THIS just goes to show how deeply depraved Obama has made our country. Shorter University is a Godly, Baptist center of learning that's been around for 140 years or so. You wouldn't think that demanding that the faculty sign a pledge against queers, adultery, dope and being drunk near campus would be controversial in any way.

Baptist University's Anti-Gay Pledge Causes Faculty To Quit In Droves

A university in Georgia is bleeding faculty after adding a new section to employee contracts last October. The "Personal Lifestyle Statement" requires employees to reject homosexuality, premarital sex, adultery, drug use and public drinking near campus. It also mandates that staff be active in a local church.

In an anonymous survey in April, only 12 percent of faculty and staff said that they planned to stay at Shorter University, a 139-year-old Baptist school, reports Inside Higher Ed. More than 50 resigned before the new contracts were even distributed, and certain departments, such as science and fine arts, have been "eviscerated," according to Michael Wilson, a tenured librarian for the university who's worked there for 14 years.

"Through our policies, we seek to honor Jesus Christ," the university said in a statement. "We understand that there are those who do not agree with our beliefs. We are not trying to undermine their right to those beliefs, but want to be transparent about our own."

"Where is today's American Taliban? At Shorter University," tenured Shorter professor Sherri Weiler wrote in the Rome News-Tribune. "Religious fundamentalism in any form (Muslim or Christian) is sheer lunacy in today's divided, fractured, and tormented world. True peace is only to be found in opening the doors, not closing the gates."

Wilson had planned to stay at Shorter until retirement, but essentially resigned last week. He signed the "lifestyle statement," but crossed out the line: "I reject as acceptable all sexual activity not in agreement with the Bible, including, but not limited to, premarital sex, adultery, and homosexuality."

Leaving Shorter is "wrenching," said Wilson, who claims that many of his co-workers knew he was gay. "I'm a pretty quiet person. But I perceive this as a great injustice." He is part of Save Our Shorter, which is a campaign against the changes.

The new policy of course discriminates against employees or applicants who are not socially conservative Christians. But as a religious educational institution, Shorter is allowed to discriminate in favor of a particular religion with any employee, even employees not connected with the school's religious activities, according to an exception granted by Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

The policy also discriminates against gay Americans. But in Georgia, it is legal for employers to discriminate against gays and lesbians. In February, representatives in Georgia voted to table a bill that would have extended protections to its lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens. In 2004, Georgia also became the fifth state in the union to amend its constitution to ban same-sex marriage; 25 others followed.

The "lifestyle statement" is the latest example of the Georgia Baptist Convention's growing influence on campus, according to some staff. In the late 1950s, the college approached the convention to help them with some financial troubles, and they formed a partnership. But when the convention started asserting more control over the board, the college tried to sever the tie.

In 2005, the Georgia Supreme Court ruled that Shorter's board didn't have the power to do that. Since then, the convention has chosen the university's trustees. The college also joined the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, a network of evangelical institutions that hire mostly evangelical Protestants as faculty, and more moderate professors were allegedly urged to leave.

Evangelical protestants, like Southern Baptists, are more conservative on social issues than any other religious group in the U.S. In fact, they're the only major religious group in which a majority think that gay and lesbian relationships shouldn't be accepted by society, according to a 2011 Pew Religion Research Institute survey.

"Our relationship with the Georgia Baptist Convention is that they are the sole member of our corporation," Shorter spokeswoman Dawn Tolbert explained to the Rome News-Tribune. "We are Shorter University Incorporated. We are owned by them."

The school only receives 4.2 percent of its $50 million budget from the convention.

Some alumni are disturbed by Shorter's conservative turn. "Guess what? Not everyone at Shorter is a Baptist, and they don't need be," wrote one angry alumnus to the local paper, when the convention began asserting its influence. "For academic excellence and diversity to occur then there needs to be a wide variety of teachers with a wide variety of beliefs."

And there's a good chance that many students will be alienated too. While 63 percent of older evangelicals oppose same-sex marriage, according to the 2010 General Social Survey, only 44 percent of younger evangelicals feel the same.
The whole idea of jesus 'saving' people was only fabricated because the creators of the religion wanted to express their joy for the discovery of these new tenants. These so-called "prophets" copied Judaism and other latter
religions. Christianity, Judaism and Islam are so similar because all of their creators realized the potential power able to be received by creating a cult such as these religions.
I have posted twice on here prior to this post. The first, I was asked to come here and introduce myself. The second, I was given a warning for, after presenting an educated rebuttal towards a previously stated comment.

So here I am. I do not believe in God therefore I do not attend a church, and I have no favorite bible verses, as while I do believe the bible exists (It's quite obvious it does), I know it was written by man and therefore is fallible.

We've known for years that allowing atheists to raise children is child abuse. While a small handful say they "won't preach atheism" to their child, and "let him decide for himself when he's older", we all know the truth. They will not teach the child the Bible; they will teach moral relativism. When the child is "older", he won't be able to reconcile the vile secular humanist values he's been raised to believe in with God's absolute Justice and objective Law.

The child ends up Hellbound because of his parents! And maybe worse . . .

Our new member Dolores told us a horrifying story. She was raised by atheist parents, who apparently forced her into lesbianism!

She is the perfect poster-woman for our campaign to ban atheist parents.

The question is, where do we start?

We could start small, saying that in divorces, the Christian parent should always get the children. Or maybe by declaring atheists unfit as adoptive or foster parents. You know, like many states already do with the gays, because atheists are just like gays, always trying to "recruit" into their deathstyle.

But what about the atheists who take enough time away from their drug-fueled sodomorgies to get pregnant and have their own children that they somehow forget to abort and eat?

Those children deserve protection too, don't they?

I hate the thought of waiting a single day, and letting one more child stay in an atheist household!

And what has Romney done wrong? No, he's not having a go at Romney for leaving it so late to renounce Mormonism (come on, Mitt, there's no need to keep up the pretence any more) he's having a go because Romney dared to bash a few queers.

It's one of those times when the atheist really does damn itself out of its own mouth. Look on in disgust as he defends queers and their sodomy in direct defiance of Jesus. Howl in derision as he criticises a good Godly man for standing for Christ in the battle against AIDS-riddled pansies and taking the fight to them.

Not content with that he attacks noble institutions that are stemming the tide of secularist, communist-funded evolutionism. This man would control the education of our children and ban them from receiving instruction in True Science.

Hey there landoverbaptist.net ,

Quite a long introduction I'm afraid.

I must first say I truly believe you are all genuine Christians, I do not doubt that, and you are certainly not another lukewarm Christian church and community as spoken by John. I've been “lurking” (anonymous browsing) for only 2 days. It has boosted my moral and faith how you handle the ungodly.

Even though I myself am a very politically correct and conformist person (especially to other Christians) I really enjoy your defence of the faith...

Personally, I've probably been (and occasionally still) a sort of cherry picker of the bible, I recently learned that. I tend to read books about the bible, and not the bible itself. Result: I would unwittingly only read the benefits and rights and not the duties and restrictions in the bible. It literally surprised me to see verses quoted on this website right out of the bible.

I remember I bought a small form factor (N)KJV bible sometime in the past and yesterday decided to read that from now on. With some luck I can get my hands on a normal sized NKJV bible this week or somewhere in the not so distant future. The small form factor bible just works though, and I can take it anywhere in my pocket! Note: I am Dutch and used to read a Dutch catholic bible (will elaborate later). I think the Dutch version is just more complicated and erroneous than the English one. You need a dictionary with the catholic bible I used to have.

Reading the threads here I see you offer tough medicine to sinners; namely (biblical) education towards salvation. Personally I would go easier on them sometimes, luring them in for the Lord in a politically correct way. It is fine you confront them with facts like: “If you're going that path, you will find destination hell”. Conventional and it works. It worked on me eventually.

However, this is the internet, and you're probably more experienced with sinners than me on this medium! I've been a non-denominational Christian (though raised catholic, I was a name-Christian) for about 3 or 4 years now, counting from the moment of my salvation. I wish I put the date on a note or something, but I didn't, :(

You offer fair advice, and all stuff you guys say appear and are very scriptural and can be "checked" in the bible. This has made me curious and I decided perhaps I should join. This is also how I found this website. I will not post a lot, unless inclined to do so. For some reason I feared your forum (not the Christians) and feared joining this forum. I want to break from that nonsense and confront myself with it. This is just fear of being rejected or getting trolled.

Some things I do not directly approve of, but then there has to be some colour in the family of God. However the things I do not approve of, give me a thick head; can't stop thinking about it, and pray to God for him to reveal why I should approve of some of the things I would not approve of in a “natural instinctive” sense. I believe I am learning. I really want to do the will of God!

This country I live in, the Netherlands, is very humanistic. The political system is retarded, I have no other or more polite term for it. There are like 20 registered party's, all votes are scattered, and it is impossible to form a coalition. And the education here makes all common people socialists including the highly educated, which make the “common” people their, erm, you know what... I was in the communist youth league. I quit a few (about 5) years ago not long after salvation, and to my delight I was never registered at their party/(institute?) because of an error in the request for joining them at the time I joined.

When I was 17, I left school early. I just didn't fit in and felt depressed. Later I became psychotic, and after reading some chick.com tracts I found the Lord and delivered me from psychosis. May it never come back! The psychiatrist has thusly diagnosed me with very mild form of autism. Now I live on welfare and when I want to work I make less money than staying my lazy self due to bureaucratic laws. That is why I (sort of, hard to explain) volunteer, so at least something fills my idle time. The bureaucracy and unrighteousness here is insane, also with dealing with criminals, calling good evil and evil good and all that stuff that's in the bible. Would like to say that most bureaucracy is of socialist origin here...

I'm not church going. All churches here are catholic (Limburg), but I did see a baptist church which exists for the American troops which reside in a town near my town (Afcent, Nato Brunssum).

I would like to thank your fathers and grandfathers for fighting for my “people's” freedom. The war cemetery is only a few dozen kilometre away from where I live, a most impressive site. Most of you are American so I think it is appropriate to state this here.

I like to story of Lot. I also like the “zaligsprekingen” (mount of blessing I believe in English). I'm very weak at remembering actual verses but I remember what they have to say...

So far I've only read the New Testament in Dutch once. I am currently reading the New Testament in NKJV. I've boldly tried reading the Old Testament but I don't feel as inspired by it as the New Testament. I read Genesis and Exodus though, but that was before I became a Christian (so chances are there are new insights for me in it)

Hopefully my stay here will be good and fruitful!

Kind regards,
Joey

Greetings to all whom may read this,
I am posting this 'introduction' to let you know of my presence here. I have joined this forum as a means to gain an understanding of what your religion entails for you. I mean no disrespect in doing so, nor will I actively seek arguments or confrontation. However, if provoked I will attempt to mediate such things or to defend the beliefs of myself as you have the right to do so too. As my name may suggest, I am here for observational purposes only. Thus, it is only fair that I tell you who I am. I am a member of a sect/church/organisation/etc dedicated to studying and collecting information on religious beliefs throughout the world. Saying this, I am an Atheist, as I have never felt the touch of God, however I do read the Bible as a means of procuring inspiration or simply because of the tales it tells. I do so with holy books of other religions too. My favoured verse of the King James Version of the Bible is Psalms 30:5, “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” This is due to the fact that it is worded so beautifully and has such great depth that it may hold meaning for every human being, not just those who have received the gift of faith. Having said all of this I wish you all the best.

As a Pastor I am often asked, “What is the Christian response to cold callers on the phone?”

The situation is that you are usually deeply in contemplative prayer, perhaps explaining to God how a massive sex scandal in the Democrat party would help the country towards a Christian theocracy, when the phone rings.

Disturbed, and having to apologize to God for the interruption, you answer the phone and, in a tone displaying your anger, say, “Yes?”

The voice at the other end then starts up with, “Hi, I’m calling from <insert inaudible company name>. Can I speak with Mr Bathfire?”

To which you may reply, “No, he’s not in, and even if he were, he wouldn’t want to speak to you.” (It’s fine to lie in these situations; the truth is that if you had not been in, then you would not have returned home just to hear this idiot speaking about some scam.)

The speaker often ignores whatever you say and then, following his script will say, “Would you like to save 3 million percent on your heating costs?”

Now my response goes one of three ways. I either
(i)	express surprise and disbelief at the amount to be saved, particularly as he has no idea how much it costs to heat a 18 bedroomed house, or I say,

(ii)	“No, I want my heating costs to rise – I have too much money and my good-for-nothing children will only be fighting over my estate when I die. Have you any idea what problems being immensely rich brings with it? Do you? I mean, really, do you?”

Of course, they don’t. Otherwise they would not be stuck for 10 hours a day in some God-forsaken call center trotting out the same script a thousand times a day for less than the minimum wage, they’d be out there demonstrating the American Way by being a Banker or Lawyer or Accountant and spreading the Word of the Lord by example. But then, as Jesus said, “The poor are always with us.” And you get the life you deserve and if calling strangers is allocated as your lot in life, so be it – perhaps you are being punished for your sins.

(iii)	Or I see it as God’s way of telling me that there is work to be done in this vale of tears and I respond with, “You cannot serve God and Mammon son! Have you given much thought to the Life Hereafter and your personal relationship with Jesus?”

Mind you, I blame the companies that employ these people. They only do it to push some garbage that no self-respecting retailer would have in stock and no person would ever buy.

Mrs Bathfire did once buy a set of plates commemorating the abolition of slavery off one of these callers. I was outraged but when they came, I saw that they were filled with pictures of Darkies having the Protestant Work Ethic beaten into them and my anger abated. (Don’t tell Mrs B but I broke the last two as one showed plantation owners being illegally deprived of their property and the other showed all the Darkies drunk and leaving to join the Welfare lines.)

I hope this has helped. If any of you have any advice – please pass it on.

My Take: What the Bible really says about homosexuality

The longest biblical passage on male-male sex is Romans 1:26-27: "Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another."

The Greek term para physin has been translated unnatural; it should read atypical or unusual. In the technical sense, yes, the Stoic philosophers did use para physin to mean unnatural, but this term also had a widespread popular meaning. It is this latter meaning that informs Paul's writing. It carries no ethical condemnation.

Compare the passage on male-male sex to Romans 11:24. There, Paul applies the term para physin to God. God grafted the Gentiles into the Jewish people, a wild branch into a cultivated vine. Not your standard practice! An unusual thing to do — atypical, nothing more. The anti-gay "unnatural" hullabaloo rests on a mistranslation.

Besides, Paul used two other words to describe male-male sex: dishonorable (1:24, 26) and unseemly (1:27). But for Paul, neither carried ethical weight. In 2 Corinthians 6:8 and 11:21, Paul says that even he was held in dishonor — for preaching Christ. Clearly, these words merely indicate social disrepute, not truly unethical behavior.

In this passage Paul is referring to the ancient Jewish Law: Leviticus 18:22, the “abomination” of a man’s lying with another man. Paul sees male-male sex as an impurity, a taboo, uncleanness — in other words, “abomination.” Introducing this discussion in 1:24, he says so outright: "God gave them up … to impurity."

But Jesus taught lucidly that Jewish requirements for purity — varied cultural traditions — do not matter before God. What matters is purity of heart.

Manny Pacquiao Says Gay Men Should Be 'Put to Death'

Manny Pacquiao, who lives and trains in Los Angeles, is probably in deep shit in this liberal city of brotherly love.

That's because the boxing champion said that gay men "must be put to death."

Really. In a recent interview with the National Conservative Examiner the fighter quoted the Bible in relaying his feelings about President Obama's support for same-sex marriage:

Um. Okay. He was quoting Leviticus 20:13.

Pacquiao also said:

Quote:

Wow. Be ready for the blowback on this one folks. We're trying to reach out to Pacquiao's people for reaction or clarification.

It's been pointed out to us that the very married Pacquiao hasn't exactly been by-the-book when it comes to his own union -- allegedly. He has been linked in reports to a Filipina actress named Krista Ranillo. How Catholic of him.

We called Freddie Roach, his Hollywood trainer, for reaction to the anti-gay comment, but had yet to hear back.
