67 Sins
Pastor Sampson has a very informative post about the sins mentioned in the New Testament but I was finding it hard to remember all of that information. I'm sure its easy for the men but its a lot of words for me.
Here is a first draft of a song I use when cooking to try to hammer God's Word into my forgetful mind. It needs a little work, a few lines don't scan right. Catholics expect to see the gates of heaven, But they believe the sins number seven, Paul alone gives us fifty four And the gospels give us nine more Add in four from the final book Sixty Seven in the NT - take a look Adultery, fornication, evil thoughts Lying, strife, perjury in the courts. Six in just those two liney things Not to mention inventing evil things Witchcraft, sorcery, murders, wrath Filthiness- True Christians have a bath Seditions and revellings Emulations and swellings Hatred and varience - unclean in his eyes Heresy and idolatry, no great surprise The unmerciful, the lascivious False witnesses and the malicious Contrary to sound doctrine covers a alot of things Those envying, fearful and without understanding Gaying it up makes God real mad But saying "You Fool" is just as bad Whisperers, deceit and coveousness Pride, boasters and unrighteousness Now the list is almost half done Debate with God is never won Matricide, patricide, being unholy and profane Drunkeness, drunk on wine - not the same Don't look on a woman with lust in your heart Implacable? Despiteful? Please don't start The unGodly and the haters of God Sinners and tumults, thieves, foolishness and the odd Catholics stopped long ago But we have divorce and whoremongers yet to go Abominable doesn't just affect snowmen In a tenuous rhyme - the stealers of men Covenent Breakers, malignity Disobedience to the laws of the city An evil eye or not neighbour loving. A few more to go, first unbelieving Disobeying parents and wickedness Without natural affection and uncleanness Catholics think their septasins get Heaven They couldn't be wronger, per KJV1611 |
Re: 67 Sins
That is a wonderful way to remember God's Commandments and we know that He approves:
Psalms 119:54 Thy statutes haue bin my songs in the house of my pilgrimage. ©1611There are so many ways that old serpent will try to whisper and entice us to be harlots (or worse) and sometomes it seems as though he singles us out for “special” treatment. But thanks to Jesus' agony, His Dying and His Blood running onto the earth at Calvary we prevail against satan's barbs. Hallelujah! :yahoo: |
