If you are still under the curse of the flesh, then you have not Jesus in your heart. Once you have accepted Jesus wholly and unconditionally, temptations of the flesh will no longer entice you (1st John 5:18).

If your wish is to avoid Hell, then your love for Jesus is mercenary, and not in conformity with the LORD's command to love Him with all your heart, soul, and might (Deuteronomy 6:5). Instead, you would be loving Him with your intellect, and nowhere in the Holy Bible have I read the LORD commanding one to rely on his intellect. Why, as a matter of fact, I'm aware only of those times when the Holy Bible refers to the danger of using a man's intellect (Proverbs 28:26; Psalm 53:1; Proverbs 12:15; Proverbs 13:20; Proverbs 14:9; Proverbs 18:2; Romans 1:20-22; Ecclesiastes 7:4-6; 1 Corinthians 1:18-25, 27; 1 Corinthians 2:14-15; 1 John 2:16; and etc.).
The appropriate response is to love the Lord Jesus Christ not for what He can help you avoid, but for the wonderful gift He gave to those to whom it pleases Him to give - the gift of Salvation (Romans 8:29-31). This is a free gift available to those who respond appropriately (John 14:15). So long as you fear Hell, your heart isn't in the right place (loving Him). Only when you are sincerely grateful that the Lord has taken your place to pay the debt that the Lord requires, when the Lord has covered you in His Precious Blood will He forget your sins and see the face of Jesus rather than Kewlcat (Isaiah 43:25). Then He will love you and make you righteous and your name will be written in the Book of Life (Revelation 20:1).
You might try a prayer like this, dear:
Dear Heavenly Father, I am unworthy to be called your child. Let me be your servant and do your bidding. Use me as your instrument. I desire nothing more than to be your tool. Take my mind, take my heart, take my will, and shape it into yours. I pray you conform my will to yours, lest I allow a single thought of prideful rebellion or autonomy seep through. Let me be a mere reflection of your conditional affection to the rest of the world. Take my life, you own me anyway. I am nothing, so take and do with me what you will. On my own, I am naught but disgusting, fermenting, pile of sinful flesh. You are right to think of me as nothing more than a heaping pile of stench-filled menstrual rags sitting out in the hot desert sun. Use me to your glory, Jesus, and if that glory includes sending me to Hell where I will suffer for an eternity, then yet shall I praise You in the very depths of Hell. I am the worst person in the world, and I bow to your Greatness, your Might, your Will. I love you unconditionally, and will be your slave, mind and body, without reservation.

Thank you, and I forgive you. Now please don't do it again. We are a church community that loves the Lord Jesus Christ unconditionally and without reservation. If you have an opinion, kindly provide where in the Holy Bible, chapter and verse, you see the LORD speak of it first.
