I do have a question, though, about this business of killing a prisoner if he measures two lines, but keeping him as a slave if he's only one line. Do we have any information as to what that unit of measurement would be equal to in feet or inches?
I figure since people were apparently shorter back then, we can probably assume an average adult male height of no more than six feet, and probably less.
So just for the sake of argument, would I be correct in thinking that an adult male combatant probably measured two lines? So therefore half of that, one line, would probably be equal to 2.5 to 3 feet?
In which case it would be OK for me to have a midget slave if I bested him in combat, yes?
