No. He was not a pirate, but a friend of a tribal Chief in africa, if I remember corectly And like I said thi author of those storyes Is Astrid Lindgren and she is from Sweden not Denmark.
I am sure that all countries in the World got something they are not proud of, but these day most of the Danish people belive in God and our savior Jesus Christ.
Remember: God, is a good God and God does NOT hate his childen.
