My husband, who is not a soldier (except in the sense of being a Soldier for Christ) and only holds a courtesy military rank for professional purposes, says this is absolute tosh. It's simply a matter of taking the appropriate precautions and knowing the right people.
(He is speaking of North Africa and the Middle East, obviously. Nobody in his right mind would go to Michigan.)
