The "context defence" is a common tactic employed by liberal "Christians." Sometimes you don't need context to understand the meaning of a passage. If the Bible says Jesus would save
His people from their sins (Mat 1:21), how can it possibly mean He would save everyone from their sins? If the Bible says no dwarf may approach God (Lev 21:20), how can it possibly mean a dwarf may approach God? Jesus Himself told us the saved would be precious few.
Mat 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
