I've been nervously following the news lately and it seems Trump is now saying that we (Americans) might have to pay for the wall then get the money off Mexico later. But you know what those Mexicans are like, they'll shirk their responsibilities and pretend not to speak American.

So I was thinking - not that this would EVER happen - but just saying, what if we did have to pay for the wall? I mean, would that be such a bad thing. Trump deserves a nice wall.

It might not be such a bad idea. A good, American design and then bring in cheap labor from China. China would be a good choice for labor as they have already built a wall and it has lasted a long time.

Donald will build the wall using Mexican contractors - ie they supply all the materials and labor. When the contractors want their money, Donald will just not pay them because they have failed to meet the standards set in the contract. Of course the Mexicans will dispute this and will sue Donald. This will not succeed as Donald now owns the supreme court.


It will be win win win for America. Mexicans pay for wall. Then, when the bill is refused, Mexicans will have to pay American lawyers to fight the unwinnable case. After that judgment Trump can then countersue Mexican contractors for failing to construct a wall to contract specifications. With the court ordered reparations, Trump can employ American labor using American materials to remedy the Mexican "defects".


Not only does Mexico end up paying for the wall, they end up paying for America to rebuild it.


Trump has proved to be a dab hand in these sort of contract disputes in the past. Could be his greatest deal of all time!

Surely there must be some assets in Mexico we could bring to the U. S. and hold until they pay for the wall.

So far as I know Mexico is a nothing but a country full of Mexican restaurants. Others here may have been there and know of assets we could take until the debt is paid.

You guys make a good point... I assumed I should trust Trump that the Mexicans would pay for it, since he's directly informed by Jesus, but maybe he has another plan in place... We'll have to wait and see.

This sounds like the start of a plan right here.

What we need is to have Mr Trump seize all the Mexican restaurants doing business in the USA.

Also charge a 50% tax on all sales of Mexican food - tortillas, beans, chilli, salsa, cheese, Doritos, etc.

Mexico will be crushed economically, they will have to build the wall to get their restuarants back and to be able to sell any of their food in our country. This is what a strong Leader like Putin or Erdogan would do and so that's what Mr. Trump should do.

So I'm really confused right now, why President Trump () is not raising this point right now, when the Democrats are whining about not wanting to pay for the wall?

Why does he want to include $ 18 billion for the wall in the American budget, since we all know that Mexico is paying for it?!?

I'm sure there must be a logical explanation for it, right?

As a master negotiator, Trump is always holding all the cards. As pointed out by others here, there are many ways to do this (and let's not forget, Trump graduated from the Wharton School of Business - one of the top in the country).

Trump is not showing his hand at the moment, and we might initially have to finance the wall - but rest assured we will get it all back plus interest. Just have a look at the imports from Mexico - $387 BILLION. The wall is just a drop in the bucket - and all Trump has to do is tax it. The Mexican's will pay up - one way or another.
