Gravity -
10-10-2010, 08:43 PM
No matter what the lovely people here may think, gravity, in fact, does exist. Regardless of whether or not you believe in God, this is a given. Believing in God does not, in fact, mean that you must instantly discredit science and everything science claims. Simply because gravity is called a theory does NOT mean it is just a guess: in scientific terms, a theory is not just a hypothesis (which is only an educated guess), it is "a logical, systematic set of principles or explanation that has been verified—has stood up against attempts to prove it false." When the "evil atheists" try to tell you that gravity is proven, you often retort with it only being a theory. This may mean something to you, but scientists use this word to mean something proven. A law.
Think of it this way: when you jump, what happens? You come down. When a tree is cut down, what happens? It falls. Why does this happen? Gravity acts on it. Gravity has been proven that, if it weren't for the air resistance of an object (which is why things like paper airplanes fly, or some things fall slower than others, and why cars cannot accelerate uniformly infinitely), all things come down to the ground at an acceleration of -9.81 m/s/s (meters per second, per second). This has been found time and time again. You can test this by dropping a ball, calculating its initial velocity, final velocity, and time (of course, you would need precise tools in order to do this, which is why Galileo, who used his pulse, could not find the exact magnititude of graivty). Now, using math (I hope you do not try to argue math with me, as math is the basis of the machine you are using to look at this post right now), subtract the initial velocity from the final velocity. Now divide this by the time it took for this to happen. If done correctly, the answer should be very close to 9.81 every time. You know why? Because that is gravity. Gravity has been proven to be that (again, with slight variations due to air resistance and altitude) over and over. I did it myself just last week using a computer and a couple of photogates. This stuff works, and if you do not believe me try it yourself.
In conclusion, gravity exists. How do people even try to argue this point?

Lies! God controls it. It's intelligent pulling.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Things were falling before scientists invented gravity.
You can make all kinds of absurd claims, fact is that you scientists were late to the party. You did not invent gravity. You did not invent falling. You are liars.
God has caused things to fall since the existence of the world, and no matter what you say you will never steal God's glory by claiming to have invented gravity yourselves.
Leviticus 26:15-16
And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

Gravity was never invented, but it was discovered. By scientists, who proceeded to measure it.
I'm also not arguing over what causes gravity, as I believe that is something that is up to an individual's own discretion. Just because it exists, and scientists happened to figure out how it works, does not mean we know why it works. For all anyone knows, God may make it work or have "invented" (that's really not a correct term, even if God created gravity, then he didn't invent it he created it) gravity.
Yet no one has ever been able to disprove gravity.

Gravity exists, eh?
Show me a picture or a jar full of it. Show me where God says it is there. How come it had to be discovered? Where was it before that? Ever heard of Gods Will®?
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

WRONG.
Plenty of people can and have disproved gravity, the problem is scientists peer review their scientific papers, so they will simply ignore any evidence that doesn't match their world view.
Because birds adequately proof gravity is a lie, I have personally tried sending a pigeon I captured to several science journals, but none have published my pigeon! Clear evidence of the scientific conspiracy to keep Godly proof out of their journals.

False.
Look, son, you need to start backing up your wild claims with Scripture if you expect anyone to take you seriously.
II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power
The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. Rushdoony

This is just bad logic. Show me a jar full of air. Or singing. Or anything that isn't just a materialistic object. You need air to breathe, right? God must have mentioned it somewhere in the Bible. But if you put that in a jar, I can't see it. I can't see faith, which I'm very confident God mentioned once or twice in the Bible, but it's there too. It's a force. Kind of like gravity, if you will.
Gravity has always existed. Supposing you are a Christian (which I'm assuming you guys are, obviously), when God made the Earth, how did he make sure everything stayed on the ground? That is what we call gravity. Even though we don't know how it came about (and if you are a creationist, then you believe it was God), it was still discovered. It had always existed, but no one had ever thought "Hey, how does that happen?". That is why it was discovered. Personally, I don't know how it came about, or was "invented", at the beginning of time. This is, I believe, where God comes into play.
I'm sorry if I'm starting an argument, but I really don't understand the logic used in a couple of other threads around here. So I'm just trying to grasp it. No hard feelings at all, though.

Take a jar, put the lid on it. You now have a jar with air. Easy right! That pain in your head that you are feeling now is your brain.

Whoa skippy! No need to get all uppity because a simple man like me was able to dissolve your high faluting 'secular science'.

Of course you can see air. Get a jar full, put it under water. Suck all the AIR out and water will take its' place.

I think you need to look at the facts. 'Gravity' was whipped up by a guy named Newton. Gods Will® has always been here and is clearly documented from the beginning of time. Check and mate.

Well, you are being argumentative. If logic escapes you, you need to let it go. It was not yours to have.
You need to fully accept that God is everything and stop questioning Him.
Now read your KJV
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

Honestly, I see no reason religion and science can not go together. But this is just my opinion, and I will let that go.

No, now I just see water.

Gravity has always been here, that's why things have fallen from the sky since, let's say the Garden of Eden for all you religous folks. Newton just put a name to it, just as you are claling it God's Will. It's the same thing, just you refuse to call it gravity (but that's fine, it doesn't matter anyway)

Sorry about being argumentative. I already got three infractions for my last post, so this should be a doosy.
I just hate accepting, blindly, that God is the answer to everything. Id much rather search for the answer myself, and if my conclusions lead me to find that God is the answer, then I have no problem with that.
(sorry for the long post)

We must be reading from different Bibles, friend. My Bible (KJV 1611) says nothing that would back up your assertion. It does, however, let me know that It contains all the answers I will ever need.
