Atheism is a crutch for the weak! -
04-14-2013, 12:06 PM
Why do atheists refuse to acknowledge God? How can they ignore all the evidence for His existence? Because they are weak. Reality is too much for them to cope with.
If atheists acknowledged God’s existence, they would have to face the fact that they and their families and friends are sinners (Rom 3:23) damned to an eternity in hell (Mk 9:43-48), possibly without hope of salvation (Mat 12:31; 1 Jn 5:16; Rom 9:10-24). They would have to face the fact that all the suffering in the world is just punishment for the sin of two people who lived 6,000 years ago (Rom 5:12). They would have to acknowledge that there is an all-powerful God (Rev 19:6) who created evil (Is 45:7) and hates most people. And if they were saved, they would have to stop sinning (1 Cor 15:34), give up their family (Lk 14:26) and all worldly pleasures (Lk 14:33), endure trials (Acts 14:22) and persecution (Jn 16:2-4), be willing to lay down their lives (Lk 12:4-5), and serve (Deut 13:4) and praise God for eternity (Ps 145:1). Christianity isn’t for pussies.
But the fact is atheists don’t acknowledge God’s existence even in the face of overwhelming evidence in Creation (Rom 1:18-32). This is because they employ defense mechanisms to protect their fragile minds from the truth. Maladaptive coping mechanisms are a sign of immaturity.
Denial: Normal people may deny reality if they are grieving or facing death. But atheists deny the reality of God’s existence with intensity and persistence, as though they can make God disappear through willpower, or by pretending He isn’t real.
Repression: This involves forcing painful truths into the subconscious. Atheists do this unconsciously. They are not aware of it, so they can’t deny they are doing it.
Suppression: This involves consciously forcing truth from the conscious mind, refusing to think about it. Atheists do this every time they look at nature (Rom 1:18).
Displacement: This involves transferring feelings, such as anger, from a deserving object to an undeserving one. Many atheists deny God with their mouths because inwardly they are angry with Him for meting on them the suffering and punishment they justly deserve. Or they blame Christians in general for mistreatment they may have suffered in the church and use it as an excuse to deny God.
Rationalization: Atheists are masters of this defense mechanism. It is the reliance on seemingly logical, but ultimately spurious, reasoning to negate reality. They specialize in pedantic language and creative arguments as to why they cannot accept the existence of God. They think they are intellectually superior and therefore must be correct when in fact they aren’t coping with reality.
My challenge to atheists: Man up and acknowledge the truth!
| Mt 21:42, 44 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes . . . ? And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

You're right. I have always believed atheism to be driven by the fear of Hell. And that's the most pathetic aspect of it: that as much as it scares them to know that they and their loved ones are doomed to eternal torment, the thought of giving up sin scares them even more. Anyone who knows he is bound for Hell also knows he doesn't have to go there so long as he allows the Son of Man to enter him, but atheists have invested so much in their sins, even building whole identities around them, that they must cling to fairy tales or they will literally go mad.
"Everything came from nothing."
"The Earth is billions of years old."
"My great-great-granddaddy was a flounder."
"Jesus was a spiritual teacher."
"Jesus may not have existed."
"It's up to each one of us to find the meaning in our lives."
NOBODY BELIEVES THIS CRAP!
You might as well start worshipping Yoda or Dumbledore - there's just as much evidence for their existence as there is for the Christian God's nonexistence.
You see, God's signature is everywhere. When I look a tree or a Guinea worm or a beautiful sunset, I see something that only God could create, and in the Bible, he tells us that's exactly what He did. Best of all, he left us one piece of unmistakable, irrefutable, crystal-clear and rock-solid proof that He is real and loves us: Christ's death, and His Resurrection. Hundreds of people witnessed it and none had any reason to lie about what they saw.
Denying God is like denying the nose on your face. If someone did that -- went around telling people he had no nose while sporting one all the same -- they'd all say he was crazy. But when atheists do it, they become college professors. That's how messed up our world has gotten.

It is true. When I was an atheist during my years as a Devil worshiping sodomite, allowing my rectum to be flayed apart and turned outward by robed mongrels, I frequently confessed in my heart that there was a God, and that I despised Him. It was only once I purified my mind through the Christian testimony of our fine church that Christ chose to enter my heart and save me from sin and damnation.

I really liked Brother Pim's picture of an atheist with his head in the sand. If ever a picture is like a thousand words, that is it.
One day, each and every homer atheist will learn the truth was in front of them and they paid a huge price by not accepting it.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.
