L.A. Noire -- pure evil? Or only part-evil? -
05-27-2012, 08:09 PM
A member of my congregation tells me her child, whom she is weaning off video games, has asked for a game to replace all the nasty ones she took away.
He has already played the Left Behind games several times through, and wants a game called L.A. Noire.
It's set in late-1940s Los Angeles, and your character is a policeman named Phelps, a WWII veteran.
You spend your time solving crimes and bringing thugs to justice. Naturally, some thugs use colorful language. On the plus side, you do get to shoot them for their sins.
It all sounds good, aside from the vulgarity, but I'm not sure it's a good choice for a 17-year-old.
Has anyone any knowledge of this game?

The game was made by people who are not Christian and so should be burnt for their sins.
If I had a nickle for every time I see a man damning himself to an eternity of pain and suffering,God would get an infinity of nickels.

Not to worry, they will be.
The only sin punishable by burning in the Bible is prostitution by a married woman (Genesis 38). But God will resurrect all sinners at Judgment and burn them alive for all time in His Lake of Fire.

Or the daughter of a priest fornicating in her father's house as per Leviticus 21:9
I know my daughter is reading this.
Back on subject, I don't know what the heck a L.A. Noire is. Is it some sort of gay sex party? It sounds like gay sex to me.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Apologies, my brother. It's a video game.

Amid the post-war boom of Hollywood's Golden Age, Cole Phelps is an LAPD detective thrown headfirst into a city drowning in its own success. Corruption is rampant, the drug trade is exploding, and murder rates are at an all-time high. In his fight to climb the ranks and do what's right, Phelps must unravel the truth behind a string of arson attacks, racketeering conspiracies and brutal murders, battling the L.A. underworld and even members of his own department to uncover a secret that could shake the city to its rotten core.
Using groundbreaking new animation technology that captures every nuance of an actor's facial performance in astonishing detail, L.A. Noire is a violent crime thriller that blends breathtaking action with true detective work to deliver an unprecedented interactive experience. Search for clues, chase down suspects and interrogate witnesses as you struggle to find the truth in a city where everyone has something to hide.

For what console would this game be? Any console that does not accept the Bible into itself should be approached with caution.

I do have knowledge of it, I do think it may be more appropriate for an older age group as it does contain a few rather gory and bloody moments. I do think however, it's an interesting game, upholding the law, bringing justice to wrongdoers and what not, especially since it was made by Rockstar who unleashed the GTA series onto the world. Perhaps they have come to their senses and are now producing something that is acceptable?
I haven't delved into the game that much so I can't really say much more.

Are you people stupid?
L.A. Noire is a video game. What does it have to do with anything Christian? How does it demean Christian values? What connection does it even make to Christianity? I want proven quotes in the Christian bible of what make L.A. Noire anything satanic.
As always; I am a retard!

Yes, we know you are a retard.
Answer me this: How does Grand Theft Auto, a game which glorifies stealing and murdering and raping, demean Christian values?
If you can't answer that question, we can't help you, and you clearly do not love God (as you claim in your username).
As for L.A. Noire, I'm clearly aware it's a video game, as I pointed out in the original post. Anything which is not of God is against God; you'd know this if you bothered to read your Bible. However, I was asking for information about the game and whether it was or was not evil.
I doubt you'd be an adequate judge.

The game gets a non with an asterisk from Jesus Rev.
Sinners are dealt with tough love in the game. The recreation of late '40s Los Angles is impressive, it perhaps a bit romanticized. The game pulls no punches on the degrading effects of the California life style; as is typical for the Left Cost people are murdered for sport, the police are corrupt and their is a serious transvestite hooker problem. Fortunately you get to shoot most sinners or run them over with a car.
However the main character is a whining coward who hid in the Marines instead of punching hippies out in the Culture Wars. He also fornicates with a harlot, some singer. Irishmen are depicted in positions of responsibility. The game was made is Australia.
Also Christ did not like the way it game play was laggy on PC which was well within the hardware specifications. Again, there was no PvP server for Jesus to use me as His righteous instrument of Newb Pownage (and Christ is the ultimate rez pad camper)
I would judge the game to much for a 17 year old personally.
Time to reclaim our FREEDOM from the “Mullah in Chief” and his growing activist voter hoards of socialists, communists, anti-Semites, anti-Christians, atheists, radical gays and lesbians, feminists, illegal immigrants, Muslims, anti-Anglo whites and others.

Hmm, thank you for the review. Is there perhaps an "adult" setting on it, to block some of the inappropriate material? Like the fornication?
This gives me an idea: Why not a "Christian" add-on to video games in general, that blocks anything inappropriate for Christians?

I merely said Jesus likes to see head shots on gamertard toons until they rage quit the server or repent of their ERP depravity.

While there is a maturity setting it's for the blood and oddly not for the sex. The sex is more implied and not explicit depicted. The main character leaves his wife for some floozy he meets in a night club.

Oh course not, don't be silly. Newt didn't shirk his Culture War duty like the protagonist in LA Noise. Newt's multiple wives are just part of the wounded warrior deal we all have to face. Those years in congress and the pundit circuit take their toil you know.

Other than the fact one of the Ten Commandments specifically says Thy Shall not Kill it seems like a ok came. I might add the verse (Exodus 20:1-17 if you want to look it up) does not say Thy Shall not Kill execpt thoughs who sin., it just says thy shall not kill. For a Ture Chirstian killing in any form should disgust you. It also says Matthew 5:44
"But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you," so insulting all thoughs who disagree with you is actually against what you say is all you believe in... Maybe you should look in the bible and read it sometimes.
P.S. Im a christian and am disgusted by some misunderstood bible verses you people spew everywhere to make yourselfs look educated in the works of our Lord and Savior

How can you call yourself a Christian while insisting that "Thou shalt not kill" contradicts all of the verses commanding us to kill?

Well that arguement might have worked if the ten commandments specifically given by God our creator as guidelines to live our life by... should be followed, and a lack there of would more in likely resrict your access to Heavan
Not only that but In Matthew 19: 16-19 a man ask how to obtain eternal this is the answer.
Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life ?”
“Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”
“Which ones?” he inquired.
Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother, and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.
