My little niece Gracie is coming to visit me in the last week of November, and I'd love to surprise her parents by sending her back home being able to recite the entire genealogy of JESUS CHRIST.

The problem is I am not sure which genealogy I should make her learn. The one from Matthew or the one from Luke?

Indeed Matthew removed a few of JESUS' ancestors making it easier for a young child to memorize, but Luke's version is more complete.

MATTHEW:

David, Solomon, Roboam, Abia, Asa, Josaphat, Joram, Ozias, Joatham, Achaz, Ezekias, Manasses, Amon, Josias, Jechonias, Salathiel, Zorobabel, Abiud, Eliakim, Azor, Sadoc, Achim, Eliud, Eleazar, Matthan, Jacob, Joseph, JESUS.

LUKE:

David, Nathan, Mattatha, Menan, Melea, Eliakim, Jonan, Joseph, Juda, Simeon, Levi, Matthat, Jorim, Eliezer, Jose, Er, Elmodam, Cosam, Addi, Melchi, Neri, Salathiel, Zorobabel, Rhesa, Joanna, Juda, Joseph, Semei, Mattathias, Maath, Nagge, Esli, Naum, Amos, Mattathias, Joseph, Janna, Melchi, Levi, Matthat, Heli, Joseph, JESUS.

I thought about making her learn both, but the names are so different that she would likely get confused and inadvertently commit a blasphemous act by changing something the Bible says, per Deuteronomy 4:2.

Another thing I'm worried about is that she is going to think that JESUS was a mere human and not miraculously conceived by a virgin when she sees that this is actually the ancestry of Joseph, listed here as JESUS' father but who was not JESUS' father.

She might then want to see the genealogy of CHRIST's biological mother, who was supposed to have been tracked by Luke, but that can't be because that would make Mary and Joseph cousins, and Mary is not mentioned at all in that bloodline.

I suppose this is why Titus 3:9 advises us to avoid genealogies.

Make her learn one first, then the other one. As for the Mary problem, simply sit her down and explain to her that as a woman when Mary got married she gave up her family history by joining the family of Joseph.

I have always felt that genealogies border on mormon deceit. Also it might be confusing to a female mind that Jesus was actually his own father.

Anything hard is worth doing and think of how easy it will be later to learn Matthew. Just because she is young does not mean she gets a free pass at doing Gods Work®.

Young children do need to be forced to do things, and beaten frequently if they are to become responsible adults.

God tells us that women are not to teach for a reason. He explains that we are easily deceived by Satan into foolish lusts and fornication with idols, giving the tragic example of perfect Adam and foul Eve.

If a foolish child were taught by foolish, unclean women what a terrible mess the world would be in! (although old women are allowed to teach young women to obey their husbands).

The genealogy in Luke connects the catastrophe that befell Adam (Eve's collusion with Satan) to the arrival of Jesus
