Beef for dinner on Good Friday -
04-06-2012, 04:00 PM
What's the problem?
None unless you're a Catholic. Why? Who knows!
Does anyone know why the bead jigglers are bothered about this? Does it have anything to do with the Bible?

It's about fasting. The Jews used to fast on two days a week; the early Christians moved those fasts to Wednesday and Friday because of Judas' betrayal and the crucifixion. But that didn't mean not eating at all.
Those fasts consisted of following a prescribed diet. Typically, the fast meant not eating meat (which was considered a luxury), and so they ate fish instead.
Eventually, it turned into a "fish fry" and the Friday fried fish became a luxury itself, hence not really much of a "fast" anymore.
But the Catholics still consider it a major Fasting Sacrifice to have a Filet-o-Fish on a Friday instead of a Big Mac.
Bible boring? Nonsense!

There is nothing that will drive a youngster away from the cathylicks faster than being forced to eat a tuna fish sandwich bag lunch that has been sitting in a warm school locker for many hours.
It wasn't until I was Saved by the Landover Baptist Church that I was even able to eat fish again after the traumatic cathylick experiences of my youth. Today I celebrate the sacrifice of Jesus by having both a Filet-o-Fish and a Big Mac (or a Quarter Pounder with Cheese) – sort of what they call a "Surf and Turf".
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.
...and get off my lawn

Does anything those fish-heads do come from the Bible?
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

They're so deep into fellating Fish that they've lost all contact with reality. Sad

I explained this back in '08 but for the benefit of newcomers:
It goes back two thousand years. A slick jew fish monger named Hymie was looking for a way to increase sales at his deli. He advertised that meat came only from even-toed ungulates and since fish had fins and scales they were parve and not meat. Since this was a generally accepted kosher tenet at the time, the Christians swallowed hook, line and sinker.
Ultimately, Hymie rented a large tent and promoted a Friday night noshing where he served fried tubers and fish. Manischewitz was sold on the side for a shekel per mug. He one-upped further by adding a game named Bingo to the festivity. The Christians loved this game and so did Hymie; the tent took 20%.
Anyway, that is how it started and the Friday night fish fry continues as a tradition among the papist faithful. The only thing that is different is that they no longer sell Manischewitz and now the priest keeps the 20%.

Hmm last time I saw, people at my school ate meat all through the week, my school is integrated and has many Catholics, some are my friends but they eat meat on Fridays and so do their parents... Is what you say true with everyone else? There must be some like the people I know who don't follow all the rules

Hmm if I was in their shoes I wouldn't feel very offended, maybe you should think bigger and better to aggravate people... like making a big parade which makes fun of all of them, or take the easy route and start a religious war :I

I offend false religons whenever i get the chance, you should try it, it's fun!
Don't you think that they are offended? The religions of Judaism, Islam and Seventh-Day Adventism is all based around forbidding people from eating pork, why else would they get so mad when you invite them for a dinner and tells them afterwards that they have eaten pork?
If you were one of them, you would indeed be offended by me eating pork!
