There are many things that we as a nation hold dear to our hearts, The American Flag, apple pie, the right to bare arms, and of course the fact that our nation was founded on Christian values. With that being said, I want to discuss something which has been on my mind for some time, the 6th amendment to the Constitution. For those who do not know (or are not True Americans), the 6th amendment guarantees a right to a jury trial that arise in federal criminal court. Now, why, one may ask, would you want to get rid of jury trials? There are a few reasons.
One, there is very little reason why a judge would not come to the same conclusion in criminal matters. All a jury's current job to do is find the facts, but judges would also be able to easily do this as well. It would cut down court costs and help build a better economy.
Two, juries are often persuaded by material which is not actually relavent to the cases at hand. For instance, some jurists come to their own conclusions about a defendant based on his attire, his lawyer's attire, or just how they are feeling that day. While if any jurist would admit this, it would be a ground for a mistrial, many do not admit this and just want to go about their business and not do jury duty.
Three, juries are in direct conflict with the KJV. Think about it, in the Old Testament, there was only one Judge at a time of Israel, there was no juries, no consensus of the people, only one judge and his (or her) word was the law.
It is with these ideas in mind I say we rise up and repeal the 6th amendment. If none of this convinced you, this recent article should.
