Out of Africa. A load of Babel. -
07-10-2010, 04:57 AM
It never ceases to amaze me how atheist scientists plagiarise material from the Bible and claim it as theirs.
A classic example is the Out of Africa theory. Atheist scientists are saying mankind originated in Africa. As mankind gained intelligence they spread out across the earth. Overtime mankind developed different languages. This can all be proven by using DNA mapping.
Does this storey sound familiar. If you are a True Christian it should. It come from the bible.
Genesis 11
1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth
Proverbs 19:25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
Ezekiel 16:14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Proverbs 6:25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Genesis 24:16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.
Song of Solomon 1:15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes.

Language is an evolving phenomenon. The English we speak today is nothing like the language we used in Shakespearian times. The Babel story is a Bronze Age explanation using super natural mechanisms to explain a purely natural event.
The drawing of scientific conclusions about this or that is done outside of religion, not to usurp it. The Vatican supports the notion of evolution, and the big bang. It also contends that the bible is not a science book, and should not be viewed in that light.

Who cares what the Roman papists think? They aren't even Christians!
Please make a thread of your own in the " Introductions" section of the forum, so that we can properly greet you. Tell us about yourself, your church, and how you came to find Jesus.
And if you're here to flame us, better take a look at THIS before making an even bigger ass out of yourself.

Address the point.
Language within our own idiom changes, it is disingenuous to assert that Babel is an explanation for the difference in language. If this were the case language would be immutable.

And you wonder why many within your own cult think the papacy is a joke.
What else was "metaphorical" or "idiomatic"? Maybe the great flood? The virgin birth? The three days resurrection? Jesus coming back riding a white horse with a sword that sticks out from His mouth ruling all the nations with a rod of iron?
It's a slippery slope, friend.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

I’m not a catholic.
Address the point please.
The subject for debate is the origin of the diversity of language.

Genesis 11:1-9
1And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
4And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
8So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
What else is there to say?

Why not? It's in the Bible isn't it?
You think the Bible lies?

The diversity of language comes from the Lord.

I’m saying your interpretation of a Bronze Age script as it relates to language... is flawed

How do you misinterpret what was written? It's pretty clear.

No, you are saying the Bible is flawed. By rejecting the Tower of Babel story, you might as well reject the fact that God appeared to Moses in the form of a burning bush. From there it's a short hop to not believing that the walls of a city fell down from trumpet blasts. Next, you'll be claiming that the Red Sea didn't actually part thanks to Moses' staff to allow the Jews to escape.
From there it's all atheism, mac computers and gay marriage.

It is the Bible and the word of the Lord.
Do not be so rude to call the Bible "A bronze age script"

It is the Bible, the Lords word.
Are you a pagan who rejects the Lord & his teachings.
Why cannot you see the atheist scientists stole the story of Babel for the out of Africa theory.

It’s a Bronze Age Script… Get over it.
Your grammar is woeful, so I think I’ll ignore that which makes no sense.
Your logic is equally flawless.

You are just being petty. You have only come here to mock the Lord & his teachings.
