My name is in fact Tom, I live in England, and I was bought up within the Church of England, however I have chosen to move away from formal religions as I have progressed through my life so far. Maybe some day I will be drawn back to religion? I haven't ruled this out.
As someone who is definitely NOT a pedophile, who works with children in the outdoors, and has done work with a number of Christian groups and churches, I am willing to acknowledge that in some cases this may be happening, and would love nothing more than to put a stop to them. I however am not convinced that EVERY slackliner around the world should be tarnished with the same brush.
If anyone is willing to help me understand/act on these opinions, I would be willing to hear from them. If I have been overly intrusive, I apologize and will refrain from looking here in future.

Hello all.

To avoid the urgings of Pastor Ezekiel to make an Introduction thread, I'm including a brief bio for sake of ease. My name is Archer, I live in Georgia, US, and I grew up in the Calvary Chapel church. I am an active, practicing Christian, and I highly anticipate the day that we are reunited with our Lord.

That being said, the recent allegations regarding the general population of slackliners concerns me, as I am an avid outdoors person that loves to slackline. It concerns me that people are throwing such a broad net over a large group of people, labeling a group that simply loves to be outdoors and enjoy themselves as pedophiles. Personally, I love when a child comes over when I'm slacklining and asks if he/she can try it. Just as Jesus loved children and their willingness to believe, I enjoy being around children due to their kindness and eagerness for life. If a child needs help getting on the slackline, I will give them a hand, but being a Christian -- and, do I need to say it, not a pedophile -- I give them a hand up, but making sure not to do it in any way that is inappropriate.

Additionally, the allegation that we are practicing for levitation is an unfounded one. People that slackline do so for the challenge of balancing on a rope, not because it is high off the ground (which it isn't; it usually goes 2 ft above, max). It saddens me that as a Christian I am thrown into a grouping with pedophiles because of a overdramatized thought of one of the members of this society. Most slackliners aren't pedophiles; it would require too much effort on the part of the pedophile.

Please don't propagate this any further, this is not a constructive idea and will only spread suspicion towards people that are simply trying to enjoy the weather and socialize with friends by slacklining.
