My introduction, views, opinions -
08-07-2009, 10:13 AM
Salutations.
I'm new here, and I've been viewing lots of threads and posts before I decided to register here and put in my 2 cents.
But first, let me introduce myself. I am neither christian nor atheist. I am neither republican or a liberal, neither pure good or pure evil (by society's views at least).
I am an agnostic, one who refuses to believe in either groups, yet acknowledges their views on the world.
I am but just an observer to both groups, to ALL groups.
I am but just a man who seeks the answers of the unknown. One who seeks the truth!
And I'll tell you right now, it would take more than just different translated versions of bibles and scriptures for me to find it.
I grew up in a christian family, go to church every sunday... even went to sunday school. I know who Jesus is and whatnot, and I was a devoted christian for many years... until I grew up.
I learned that most of the wars throughout human history involved religion in one form or another. Even to this day this so called "holy war" is still going on. People dying in the name of their god!! To me, it seems these "gods" are non existent, but I cannot rule out the possibility that there IS a god... seeing that we are STILL stuck on this earth, unable to explore space and other planets, solar systems... galaxies... to find out-to KNOW if there is a god.
So what knowledge do I have? What turned me from a christian to an agnostic?
Well...
Have you ever realized how insignificant... your existence in this world is?
I have. ....It's something I can never forget.
When I was in sixth grade, my family and I went to see a baseball game.
I didn't really care for baseball, but... I was shocked when we got there.
There were people everywhere I looked.
The ones on the other side of the stadium looked like squirming grains of rice all packed together.
I wondered if every last person in north america had gathered in this place.
And so... I asked my dad. Exactly how many people were in the stadium?
His answer was that a sold-out game meant around fifty thousand people.
After the game, the path to the station was flooded with people.
The sight stunned me.
So many people around me...
...yet they only made up a fraction of the people in north america.
Once I got home, I got a calculator and did the math.
We learned that the american population was three hundred million and some in social studies.
Divide fifty thousand into that... and you get only one six-thousandth.
I was stunned again.
Not only was I just one little person in that sea of people in that stadium... but that sea of people... was merely a drop in the ocean.
I had thought myself to be a special person up until that point.
I enjoyed being with my family, and most of all, I thought that my class in my school had the most interesting people in the world.
But, that was when I realized it wasn't like that.
The things that happened in what I believed to be the most enjoyable class in the world... could be found happening in any school in america.
Everyone ins america would find them to be ordinary occurrences.
Once I realized this, I suddenly found that my surroundings were begging to lose their color.
Brush my teeth and go to sleep at night.
Wake up and eat breakfast in the morning.
People do those everywhere.
When I realized that everyone did all these things on a daily bases, everything started to feel so boring.
And if, there were so many people in the world... there had to be someone living an interesting life that wasn't ordinary.
I was sure of it.
Why... wasn't that person me?
That's all I could think about until I graduated from elementary school. And in the process, I realized something.
Nothing fun will happen if you sit around waiting.
So I figured I would change myself in middle school.
Let the world know that I wasn't a girl content with sitting around and waiting. And I conducted myself accordingly.
But in the end... nothing ever happened.
Before I knew it, I was in high school.
I thought something would have changed...
I've graduated high school years ago now, and working part-time at my city's zoo. During my time there, I saw different people with different cultural backgrounds and beliefs. Everyone was happy, was enjoying life.
Yet I know outside this place... there are people in the world dying, there are people in the world plotting murders, people stealing, shunning people, hating, fighting... there are people in the world holding assault rifles fighting and dying for their 'invisible' god... all because of religion.
If we could put aside our differences and stop hating and killing eacho ther, we could have been united as one people, we could have worked together to achieve things like finding a cure for cancer, for aids. There'd be no more third world countries, we'd grow and prosper! Heck.. we could even have colonized other planets by now.
But what's stopping us? ...people who refuses to change.
Namely religious people. Especially the extremist types.
You say science is a bad thing. But look at what you're looking now! A monitor, a computer. Without science, you wouldn't have your big hdtv's, or driving your fancy farrari.
You would have died a long time ago if it wasn't for flu shots, and medication pills.
I look at countries that have the most devoted followers of their religion, and what do I see? A third world country, and a war.
A "holy war" as they call it.
For what? To get back their holy land? Is that what they want? A peice of earth? Pfft... please, to me, it's not worth dying for.
I'm glad america quite didn't turn out like iran, or pakistan... or israel.
Because if mostly EVERYONE in america is to become a "true christian" like you guys in this forum, we'd be acting just like the so called "terrorists" in the middle east who are adamant of their beliefs.
But... I know the world is not gonna change.
There can be no such thing as a perfect world...
Life without problems...
...such a world can never exist.
I realized... I've lost my faith in humanity a long time ago. I didn't care anymore. I didn't care what people think of me... after all, I'm just a nobody part-time janitor.
I may not go by scriptures in the bible, but I am fond of The Beatles...
so I'll quote John Lennon's song, Imagine;
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
With that, I bid you adeau.

Let me get this straight...
You turned your back on the eternal love of God and shunned all of the blessings that He's given you because there were a lot of people at a baseball game?
And you think we're the ones that are mixed up?
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Death, I will fear no evil...

i never turned my back on anyone. I just felt insignificant. Why would someone as divine as God listen to me anyway? All I want is peace... i see the world today and I know for a fact it's not happening today... or tommorow.

Have you accepted Jesus as your personal Savior? If not, then you've turned your back on Him.
You say you want peace in the world? Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace. If everyone accepted Him then there would be peace.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Death, I will fear no evil...

I think his team lost.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Ah, how often have we all felt like pelicans in the wilderness or a sparrow on a house top. I know I have, but God has covered these things:
Psalms 102:5-7 By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin. I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert. I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.
Matt 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Friend, you turned your back on Jesus the day you started listening to that communist John Lennin. That guy is being tortured in hell even now for the work he did to destroy Christianity.
True Christianity is the only way to real happiness. Have you ever met an angry Christian?
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

Have you ever realized how insignificant... your existence in this world is?
Have you ever realized what you are Truly Made of? And as a Grain of Sand or Salt your Alive. Your unnumbered Cells inside of you are all alive. Add those to Your Calculation and Understand Why.
You are a Christian you did not Walk away From God. You Walked away From Religion. What are all the Christians to Do in Heaven Without Religion, there is none in Heaven. You Need None.
Jesus said to Follow your Heart. He Said to Follow the Voice of God. A Church Can Not Save You. Your Faith Saves You. That Faith Comes From his Word that Word Comes in His Voice. That Voice Comes From within Your Heart.
