Wilbur, GPS actually prove the earth is flat. I have written much about this in another thread dealing with the flat earth.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth
Proverbs 19:25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
Ezekiel 16:14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Proverbs 6:25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Genesis 24:16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.
Song of Solomon 1:15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes.

Yes, I am mocking you because you are without knowledge.
"Light does don't travel." Learn english, before you try imposing your inferior opinions onto others.
The earth is not flat, this is proven by science.
Science, that you rely on to type the very words into your computer.
Therefore, you are a hypocrite. And according to the bible, god damns hypocrites to hell.
By your own logic, you go to hell.

My English is fine thank you. My opinions are not inferior, they are what is in the Bible.
The earth is indeed flat. if you are so smart then you would discuss the topic in the correct thread.
God creates everything, not science. Therefore I am not a hypocrite.

I will confess I am an agnostic, not an atheist but not a Christian, however, I was directed here and I felt compelled to post something.
In response to the original question: How can you see these stars if they're millions of years old and I'm only X number of years old?
This really isn't a valid argument. I'm not saying science is necessarily right nor am I saying you are but your mother, your father, your great great uncle on your mother's side twice removed, they have seen these stars. Christians throughout history have seen these stars and many have mapped them. I think it's rather egotistical to think that they'd only appear on your birthday which is what you're essentially saying.
Light has been proven to be matter in the same way the radio wave that is translated by your radio into sound is. Scientists have even managed to teleport a light particle.
Another point is: If God created everything, is it not possible He has created the means for us to discover the workings of His creation? Perhaps He meant for us to work out the complexities of science and nature for us to marvel at His intelligent design? (And please, understand here that I use the capital 'H' out of respect for you, not God. I don't believe God would want me to spend the precious gift of life in reverance to Him, I imagine He'd want me to enjoy it). Also, is it not possible He has created the entire universe in its vast, vast entirety? So these stars could indeed be billions of miles away?
My second point is: Forgive me if I'm wrong but a lot of you here are claiming to be Heaven-bound, true Christians, God's chosen etc and are taking it into your hands to judge others when it should be God's right only. Isn't that vanity? One of the seven deadly sins? I don't mean to be insulting, I am merely curious.
I understand, at least in your eyes, I'm going to burn in Hell for my views but I mean no offence and I am curious as to why some things cannot be turned to reflect the Bible and God's word. Thank you.

No. God commands us to judge others. If you had bothered to actually read the Bible you would know that.
Leviticus 19:15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.
Psalm 37:30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
Proverbs 31:9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
1 Corinthians 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

That does not jive with what the Bible says the age of the earth is. Using the begats in Genesis and a biblical timeline, we know the earth and the universe is only around 6000 years old.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

You sound dangerously like an atheist. If the Bible and science disagree, we are going with the Bible every single time.

No, according to the scientific theories, the light would not appear on the earth for billions of years. That isn't possible, because the Bible says so.

If you wrongly believe that Jesus says we cannot judge or that only God can judge others, please read this sermon which explains Matthew 7:1-5 in a clear, easy-to-read manner.

You aren't offending me, friend. The problem with "turning things" is that you would be twisting God's Word to say something it clearly doesn't.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

I stand corrected on the judgement front. I apologise for my ignorance there. I still feel it is rather a pretentious thing to do but as you take guidance from the Bible and it says it's alright then it's not my place to contest.
And I don't believe it would be twisting God's words to turn science to reflect the Bible. There have been many great scientists who have discovered many great things and when questioned on the conflict between science and religion they have said that they are only discovering the workings of His creation. Many Big Bang theorists say that only God could have initiated that first spark that created the Big Bang as there was nothing before and, it is my personal belief, that it is still a literal interpretation of the Bible to say that God created Man through evolution as eventually the apes etcetera came to be mankind. He could have guided it that way too. Though, I understand that the theory of evolution contradicts the Bible on the issue of timescale as well but I present it only as an example.
Fence-sitter or not, I was raised Christian (Anglican) but I had too many issues with the Bible to put my faith into it and live my life by it. I don't rule out God etcetera. I merely doubt the authenticity of a book written, published and distributed by man. Thank you for the replies. May your God bless you. :-)

I suppose you could think that, but why wouldn't God have said that in the Bible?
Once you start questioning the literal Bible creation story, I have seen it all go downhill. The next thing you find is yourself questioning the story of Noah's ark, Jonah living in a whale's belly, burning bushes that talk, city walls falling from trumpet blasts, talking snakes, the dead rising and walking, virgin births and etc.

Why do you not think God can create the entire universe, but He is so weak that He can't preserve His instructions and commandments to mankind?

The Bible doesn't encourage vanity, but it doesn't say that vanity is a Sin, either. You need to stop listening to Catholics, who worship idols, and start listening to Christians.

Perhaps you should investigate getting a degree in Creation Science. Then you, too, can show that scientific investigation 100% verifies everything in the Bible.

Look, the Bible completely disagrees with all of the so-called evidence that scientists present. For example, the Bible says that God created plants before He created the Sun. There is just no way to reconcile that truth with the ramblings of the "scientists."

Thank you. I'd reply in kind, but the Bible tells us not to wish Godspeed to non-Christians. That's just crazy.
Ever have the windows open in your car when you're going 65-70 miles per hour? The air and light you hit exerts enough force to whip your hair around and you can easily feel it on your face.
If light really traveled at 186,000 miles per second we'd all be riddled with holes like swiss cheese.

My computer is not based on any such foul workings as you describe. Why do you keep going in circles? You're making yourself dizzy, I think.

Then, how can it be reflected by a mirror? After light hits a mirror, it bounces off. Light bouncing off of objects is what allows you to see. As light ricochets off an object, it will enter the pupil of your eye where it will then make contact with your retina. This causes your retina to generate an electrical current which is sent via the optical nerve to the brain. The brain then converts this electrical signal to an image.
The same exact process allows a camera to work.
And yes, light travels at 186.000 miles per second.
Light is diffuse energy. Therefore, it won't put holes in you.
