Brothers and Sisters, I've recently become aware of the existence of
ex-christian.net, a site that purports to "support" people who are questioning their faith or thinking about leaving the church. The name is misleading, however, as the Bible makes it clear that there is no such thing as an ex-Christian. Salvation is a gift from God. Once He has bestowed it, He never takes it back.
Rom 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
If even one person lost their salvation, it would mean God was not all-powerful.
Jn 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
Rom 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Phil 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ . . .
1 Pet 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy . . .
Faith is essential to salvation (Jn 3:16; Heb 11:6), yet even if we lose faith, we still cannot lose our salvation.
2 Tim 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
The existence of one ex-Christian would show God to be powerless and His Word to be in error. Yet at ex-christian.net there are over 6,000 "ex-Christians" and almost
2,000 "extimonies" (sob stories from "ex-Christians" about how they were brainwashed as children and hurt by Christians blah blah blah). Clearly, these "ex-Christians" were never truly saved to begin with.
Still, it's a new low to start up a website where people pretend they used to be Christians to prey on those struggling with doubt.
