Texas GOP says get rid of weird Chinese names -
04-09-2009, 09:06 PM
Who says the Republican party is "The Party of No" with no ideas? Texas Republicans have a new innovation that America sorely needs: making Chinese people ditch their weird names: A North Texas legislator during House testimony on voter identification legislation said Asian-descent voters should adopt names that are “easier for Americans to deal with.” [...]
Brown suggested that Asian-Americans should find a way to make their names more accessible.
“Rather than everyone here having to learn Chinese — I understand it’s a rather difficult language — do you think that it would behoove you and your citizens to adopt a name that we could deal with more readily here?” Brown said.
Brown later told Ko: “Can’t you see that this is something that would make it a lot easier for you and the people who are poll workers if you could adopt a name just for identification purposes that’s easier for Americans to deal with?”
Lucy Lui, Jackie Chan, Lianni Lei, Kobe Thai....Did I spell those right? Probably not. How do I pronounce them? I have no idea.
And what's with " Wong"? Do they want us to mix it up and say "Wang", so they can snicker at Americans like Beavis and Butthead? And what's with their perverted names, Hung Lo Fat, Hung Yung Guy, Fat Yung Wang and so on. Americans can't even say those names without wanting to wash our mouths out with soap.
Get that all of you Wongs, Chans, Yungs, and so on? Get a proper, American name - like Swartzenagger, or Guiliani, or Swartzkopf, or Spirew Agnew or Eisenhower - good, solid, easy to spell, rolls-off-the-tounge, Mayflower-Decended American names.
Once we've got their names less weird, we need to find a way to make their faces less weird:
Kobe Thai: more like Kobe Tounge-Tied-trying-to-prounounce-that-name. Here in America, Kobe is a male name for rapacious football players.
Maja Lee: Yellow skin I can get used to. But purple lips and eyes? What bizarre island is she from? And what kind of weird name is "Lee"?
Leanni Lei - pronounced "Lee-Eye" or "Le-ih" or what?
Lucy Lui - those squinty eyes just freak me out. They should wear those eye-openers from "Clockwork Orange". That would look weird, but less weird than their usual "sideways vagina with black stuff in it" eyes.
Still weird, but not quite so bad.

The thing that really messes me up is which is their first name? Is it the first or the last?
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

That’s a good idea, very positive! I like it. The opposite side of the story is when I was in Hong Kong, a business man (whose name sounded like falling cutlery) told me that at his Christian school, he had to adopt a Christian name – he chose Bartholomew on the basis that his teacher couldn’t say it and he wouldn’t get asked questions!
If the chinks know that, they will understand our problems.

Good for Brown. Why should Ornamentals have the special privilege of having complicated, unpronounceable names like "Ko"? If they come to our country, the least they can do is to stop persecuting us by having such strange names. Her comment about "your citizens" was especially on point.
Then again, I have to wonder about Texas voters, electing a woman. Are there no members of God's preferred sex in that district?

It think "Ko" is hard to pronounce because it is so brief, the tongue expects more. We should have a law that all names have a minim of two syllables. Enough of these freaky two letter names that sound like Swedish furniture.
Time to reclaim our FREEDOM from the “Mullah in Chief” and his growing activist voter hoards of socialists, communists, anti-Semites, anti-Christians, atheists, radical gays and lesbians, feminists, illegal immigrants, Muslims, anti-Anglo whites and others.

Just when I was loosing faith in Texas (for going soft on evolution), the Lone Star state REBOUNDS and reminds us what a blessed place it is.
Still, now that Texas has the Chinese problem under control, what about the wetbacks? I mean, Jesus Himself hardly knows what to do with abominations like GUTIERREZ, JIMENEZ, MUNOZ and RUIZ. Is there really any reason we can't legally Americanize all those names to SMITH?

Right you are, especially all of those names with ń. I don't see an ń on my keyboard, and I sure as heck don't see it in the Bible.

Glory! Does this mean that, merely by abandoning their deivant names, the chinks can also give up on being pocket-sized?
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Texas politician suggests calling all gooks "Charlie" -

Thank god for politicians who are not afraid to tell the truth. This should make things much easier at the cleaners. Now if we could just figure out a way to make them look different than all the others.

Texas Lawmaker Suggests Asian Names Be "Easier to Deal With"
April 9, 2009
Is Texas State Rep. Betty Brown (R-Terrell) extremely out of touch with national demographics, or is she the unfortunate scapegoat in a voter registration debate?
At first glance, the former seems a bit more likely, but a closer look reveals a different story. During a hearing on voter registration, she asked Ramey Ko of the Organization of Chinese Americans if Asian voters could have names that are "easier for Americans to deal with."
At a Texas House Elections committee meeting, she asked, "Rather than everyone here having to learn Chinese-I understand it's a rather difficult language-do you think it would behoove you and your citizens to adopt a name that we could deal with more readily here?"
But Brown's comments don't end there, and most accounts don't include the second part of that statement. She continues, "I'm not talking changing your name. I'm talking about the transliteration, or whatever you refer to it, that you could use for us."
This is a more reasonable request, especially in the greater context of the debate on the voter registration process. Watching the video of this interaction, which you can see here on YouTube, provides a much better context of a debate pertaining to the passage of a bill pertaining to identification in voter registration.

This is a real problem, even in China. The picture below is from scenes at the US Embassy in Beijing (I thought it was in Peking???) when a Homeland Security Visa Officer posted the photograph of someone who left their visa behind at the desk.

They should all be called "John" and the hell with it.

This seems to be one of their traits - copying things. Be it the way you speak or a cheap plastic lead-painted toy, they reproduce it in a way that is slightly substandard.

You can say that again. When my dry cleaner tries to pronounce my name, it comes out something like "Bilry Lrooban". It's like fingernails on a chalkboard to hear it said like that.

What bugs me is when I go to costco they always have these immigrant-robots who offer the free samples and they all say in the same strange voice, "would you like to try" and then they mumble whatever the item is because that's not part of the programming.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.
