Mother and Father do not allow me to speak much of my older sister, Sarah Elizabeth, because at 29 she has yet to marry and - even worse in my father's eyes - she went to a liberal college and operates her own business in Toms River, New Jersey. However, sisters, Sarah Liz as I have always called her has become possessed by the demon of pentecostalism.

A visitor to her yarn shop in Toms River attends a Free Pentecostal Holiness Church near Brick. Sarah Liz agreed to visit this woman's church since Sarah's Presbyterian place of worship only meets at 9 AM on Sunday morning (how dreadful not to hold services whenever possible!).

Sisters, what follows may shock some of you. Sarah became enthralled with all the goings on. As she writes me in her letter:

"Naomi, from the moment I walked in, the Holy Ghost yanked at my heart strings. They prayed, welcomed everyone - and me by name - and then sang a song called "Holy Spirit, Use Me." There were some announcements and then a man named Brother Ben led us in singing. The songs were fast and lively, and many of the congregation gathered in the aisles to dance. They shouted GLORY as they sang and danced and marched around the church seven times - they called it a Jericho March - and the power of the Spirit grew. A woman came over to me and laid hands on my forehead and began speaking in tongues. When she had finished, another person interpreted what she said! And yet have you denied Me, yet have you rejected me, yet have you turned away from my face. But I have NOT FORGOTTEN THAT WHICH I PROMISED YOU! Surely you shall teach many men to follow the TRUE GOSPEL OF MY SON and YEA, when the multitudes hear of Me through you, thousands of souls will accept my plan of salvation! Sell your business and use the profits to seed your own church! Surely there are many souls that are in need of your teaching and your wisdom!

Naomi, is that not the most wonderful thing - ever? And here is the best part: I went to the altar when the pastor called for sinners to be saved. I was saved, sanctified, and baptized in the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance! Oh, ekoshondalalalalala miko miko eskondalalalala hallelujah! I'm afraid all hope may be lost regarding your sister.

I think that your Sister is referring to the Holy Ghost in a sinful way, and also further on she might have been misusing the Holy Spirit's gifts with the wrong kind of glossolalia.

May our Lord hold you in the palm of His Hand. Your words are comforting and yet I too am troubled about this new-found "experience" that my sister has written of. This sounds to me like sins of the flesh being celebrated and your sister has simply been caught up in an orgy of sensory pleasures. Who among us hasn't felt a warm tugging on our hearts watching certain uplifting movies starting Kirk Cameron? Who among us hasn't felt goosebumps when pledging allegiance to the flag of the United States of America? But sometimes, these are just reactions of the flesh to emotionally charged events.

We know when the flesh is from the LORD by the way the experience conforms to Holy Scripture. When Kirk Cameron plays the dedicated True Christian™ heroic firefighter and devoted husband, we know our flesh responds to the Good News that the Holy Ghost is sharing with us. But when Satan conspires against us to confuse and confound us, the flesh will respond to his lies (1 Peter 5:8).

So it sounds to me like your sister walked into a church hall that celebrates the flesh, pretending it is the Holy Spirit at work when in fact it is the Greatest Liar Ever (John 8:44).

They support him because they're brainwashed by him, pure and simple. They think they're doing a good thing by nurturing your sister, when in fact they work for their reward - a smile and nod and quick comment of appreciation from their master, whom they probably regard as being one degree behind Christ Himself. They're spiritual mercenaries, selling their souls to whoever they perceive to offer the highest spiritual payout. They'll do anything to be noticed by their master, anything, and they don't care about your sister. They just want to be noticed by their pastor, and bringing in new recruits gets his attention. Your sister is a willing dupe to their diabolical congregation building (coffer filling) strategies.

Of course I shall join you in prayer. If your family loves your sister enough to solicit help from the Pastors here, your sister just might be saved. I imagine it would be a most invasive and intensive emergency exorcism. The pastor and a few chosen men strong in the faith may need some time alone with your sister, away from the public eye, away from the public anything for a while. She would have no contact with you, as I imagine her prayer sessions would be constant what with so many men able to lay hands on her, there wouldn't be a single hour of the day or night in which she would be left alone to the wily ways of the devil.

I don't think reasoning with her will work, as she's been brainwashed by her new church friends and anything you say will be immediately dismissed if it does not support her deluded beliefs.

I have never considered the possibility that my sister could be dabbling in the arts influenced by the natives of the Isle of Lesbos! Shocked, I began to reflect on Sarah's past behaviors. I recall one Glorious Christmas Morn, when the rest of us were on our knees thanking the Baby Jesus for being born, Sarah was sulking because Mother had purchased the gift of a Holy Bible for her. She kept saying, "Why didn't I get the flannel shirt I asked for?"

At Eastertide the very next year, Sarah left the lovely, pink floral print dress Mother made for both of us and chose instead to wear a plain white shirt and plaid skirt to the sunrise service. My parents were embarrassed and horrified and would not let her out of the car. I realize these examples are not definitive but I wonder if they do bear out some proof of a disorder.

At first he told me Mother was feeling ill, but then he confessed that he had allowed her to go back to see my sister. Mother called me this evening to say she was going to stay with my sister for a few more days and that she was "Impressed" with the pentecostal service she attended. I am about convinced that it's best to shake the dust from my feet with regards to my dear sister. The only thing I can say is that she seems to acknowledge her place as a woman now. PRAISE GOD!

I am pleased to report that Mother returned from the visit to my sister's home. God moves in His way, in His time, praise His Name. While she was there, she convinced Sarah to go to a Baptist church with her, where Sarah was taken to a special prayer closet, doused with anointing oil, and prayed for by the men of the church for almost sixteen hours.

When they emerged, not only had Sarah renounced the pentecostal demons, but she is beginning a women's prayer focus group that will thoroughly teach her the ways of the Baptist faith. I am attending her baptism in two weeks. GLORY GLORY GLORY!

My dearest sisters, Sarah owes her soul to the faithfulness of our Savior's promise to answer prayer. Those prayers came from you! I pray the Lord's richest blessings on all of you for your concern and your True Christian™ love.

Another dark thread in the tapestry of my life has been bleached white as snow by the providence of our Lord. I will be tithing a double tithe this Sunday as a thank you to Jesus.

There are a few good Pentacostals, such as Pat Robertson. I find them more amusing than harmful--it's hilarious that every one of them is pretending to feel the Holy Ghost inside them, wailing and drooling and rolling around and speaking in baby talk to impress each other, but not a one of them has figured out that all of the others are pretending, too. Still, they're pro-life, pro-Jesus, and pro-America, and I can't fault them for that even if they do make fools of themselves in their worship services.

It could have been worse--your sister might have gone Catholic. They're all going to Hell for sure. Nevertheless, I'm happy to hear that you sister has decided to show Jesus the proper respect and worship without acting like a retard.
