Many years ago, back in Bible College, I was required to participate in street preaching as part of an evangelism course. One atheist I engaged thought the Bible was pretty silly. “Show me one person who has died of communion,” he said.

“I’ll go one better,” I replied. “I’ll show you many people who died of communion!” I opened my Bible up to 1 Corinthians 11:29-30.

For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

But, like a typical atheist, he moved the goalposts and told me the Bible wasn’t proof. Over the years, I did my own research to see whether there was any extra-Biblical proof that communion could be fatal if abused. I couldn’t find any.

But last week I got a call from the pastor of an Independent Fundamentalist Baptist church in rural Australia concerned about an outbreak of disease in his congregation, so I flew out there.

Out of a congregation of 15, 7 Subjects presented with symptoms of fever, chills, coughing, catarrh (runny nose), headaches, fatigue and nausea. One elderly gentleman developed pneumonia and later died in hospital. I made some inquiries. Patients had become symptomatic within days of sharing Communion the previous Sunday. I grilled the subjects about their faith and tested their Bible knowledge. None of those with symptoms could be classed as True Christians™. There you have it. It’s a theoscientifically proven fact that if taken unworthily, Communion can make you sick and may even kill you.

Of course, Baptists don’t believe the elements literally turn into the body and blood of Christ. By sharing the bread and the wine, we proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. But if you take a sip of wine or a piece of bread with sin in your heart, the consequences can be lethal, even eternal.

Brither Pim! What a significant and elegant proof that will undoubtedly raise some eyebrows also within the community of GODLESS SCIENCE. While many have known that there could be a CORRELATION between abuse of communion and the premature death of sinners, it is always necessary to show also CAUSALITY. As you have done here! I refer to the temporal link communion - morbidity - pneumonia - death that has been neglected in previous attempts.

Have you considered submitting the paper for wider peer-review, for instance, to the Journal of Creation or some other not too liberal publication?

I suppose the lines of people waiting for communion in false Christian Churches are going to be MUCH shorter once these results get wider distribution...

I've considered it, but the Journal of Creation subscribes to the germ theory of disease, and they might try to attribute divine retribution observed in the study to "germs" -- although that would be foolish because Pasteurian germists believe that alcohol kills germs.

In fact, I would be grateful if you could review my study. I'll email you my findings, if you don't mind. I might send Elijah Mee a copy as well. I'll probably have to self-publish, but at least I'll be able to claim my study was reviewed by unbiased peers.

I hope so. A billion Catholics could drop dead at any moment. The abuse of communion that occurs in some churches is horrific: intinction (dipping the bread in the wine), substituting grape juice for wine, using individual cups instead of sharing a chalice, having a priest place a wafer on the tongue instead of breaking a common loaf -- none of which Jesus authorised. Apart from the external sin of not doing Communion properly, Jesus knows your internal sin, what's in your heart (and kidneys, or reins).

Rev 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

I'm afraid you're right. The Journal of Creation is on a rapid downslide that can only lead to apostasy and eventual demnation.. They also embrace the round Earth heresy.

I could not think of any greater honor than assessing you full-length manuscript, albeit I think that your precise and exact study is not going to contain any mistakes that I could spot nor room for improvements that I could suggest.
