Looking for Help with Picking a Second Wedding Color

Hello Ladies!

As you all know, I recently became engaged to a wonderful and Godly man. So far, we (mostly Samuel) have made some progress with the wedding plans. The wedding will be held in mid-October, but we haven't finalized the location of the ceremony and the reception yet. The menu has been loosely planned out (I'll be spending the day before the wedding baking), and we have figured out the size of the wedding party and one of the colors, which leads me to an important question.

There will be 5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen, the Maid/Matron of Honor, and the Best Man. Samuel has chosen red as one of the colors to serve as a reminder of the blood that Christ shed for His followers. In his God-given wisdom, Samuel made it clear early on that none of the female members of the wedding party will be wearing red. Only the Best Man and the groomsmen will be wearing red (their bow ties, not their suits).

Since he has no desire to bother himself with the other color, as it would involve concerning himself with the dresses of the female members of the bridal party, Samuel is generously letting me pick the other wedding color. I'm thinking of picking either blue or pink, as they are both lovely colors that shouldn't stand out too much. I think that pink would be a nice choice, as it is quite feminine, but if I chose blue, the decorations can be reused to celebrate the births of any future sons.

Ladies, what color do you think I should pick? Also, I'd like to apologize if this thread is in the wrong section. I considered putting it in the Wedding section, but I figured that I should put it here so as not to bother the menfolk.

Remember, the men have access to the entire forum. It's you ladies that need to be careful about going where you shouldn't so we men can discuss important topics that glorify God and not have to worry about mindless nagging and nattering.

Have you thought about some shade of purple? This is a color many churches use to adorn the cross and said by some to be a color representative of a Christian marriage.

VIOLET - Justice of God, who personally Judges all marriage issues (Heb 13:4)
The Lord performed the first wedding ceremony (Gen 2:22-24) and initiated the Divine Institution of Marriage for the human race (Matt 19:4-6). The precedent in the Garden has never changed. The Lord is the only One who can authorize a marriage (Matt 19:6; Mk 10:9). However, since Marriage is for the human race, it must also comply with the Laws of Establishment (Rom 13:1-7), which God also authorizes.

I don't know about this business of picking out 2 colors, but let's give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that sort of thing is acceptable at your church, along with multiple bridesmaids, endless groomsmen and red bow ties.

If the bow ties must be red, then forget pink as the effect will be even more vulgar than it is already. Blue is fine if you don't care if your bridesmaids look like they just came from a Democratic convention. How do you feel about that, Esther dear?

Green with red is out, obviously, unless you're going for the Christmas-decoration look. Orange would clash with red, as would purple. Yellow is such an unforgiving color, though it does have the benefit that you could be certain that your bridesmaids wouldn't outshine you.

On balance, I'd go for a mid-brown or, better still, a nice natural burlap-beige. Don't forget that your bridesmaids will need to get plenty of use out of those dresses after the wedding.

Thank you, Sister! I will admit that I am baffled about Samuel's decisions about having a wedding party, but it is not my place to question him. 1 Timothy 2:11-2:12

Samuel thinks that I should give blue some serious thought, since having red and blue as the colors would mean that my bouquet (which will be mostly white to reflect my purity) will be the same colors as the flag of God's Favorite Nation.

Thank you, Sister Mary! Those dresses are absolutely lovely and I am eyeing a few of the more modest ones for the bridesmaids' and maid of honor's dresses.

I'm thinking of picking silver for my color, as it is a plain color that shouldn't draw too much attention away from Samuel and myself. I will make sure that the dresses are neither sparkly, nor metallic, as either one would draw unnecessary attention to them.

Remember that silver is typically the color of betrayal as seen in Matthew 26:15 "And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver." and Genesis 37:28 "Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt." However dear, take my advice with a large grain of salt, after all, I'm a woman. Consult your future to be husband and master in everything, for he is your head as seen in Ephesians 5:23 "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body."

Thank you for your advice, Sister! Samuel is also having trouble choosing between silver and blue, but I will provide an update.

My apologies for double posting, but Samuel wanted me to post an update like I said I would, so here it is.

After praying and rereading the verses that Sister Elizabeth posted in her last post here, Samuel decided that blue would be a better color for my bridesmaids to wear. We're just going to go with regular blue because Samuel (and I) likes the idea of having my bouquet be the colors of the American flag (but as I said before, white will be the primary color).

Unfortunately, our wedding is being postponed until next spring because of a fire at the house that Samuel's parents bought us as a wedding gift. Since neither my parents nor his want us staying with them after the wedding, we've had to put things off. Samuel and I (mostly Samuel) have figured out the minimum number of rooms that will be in the house, but he has already had a dream about a larger house, which he is meeting with his Godly architect cousin about. Once his cousin has drawn up the blueprints, Samuel will follow the advice of Luke 14:28 and put aside enough money to complete the house. I will most likely start a new thread with house updates when there are new ones and Samuel tells me to.

I'm glad to hear that things are going well, Esther. I am so very sorry for the house burning down. However, that may be God's way of telling you that you are not quite ready for marriage and admonishing you for something that you did. It's all though in His plan as seen in Psalm 37:5 "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."

Thank you, Sister! Samuel thinks that God burned the house as a combination of a punishment for a past sin of mine and because He didn't want two of His followers to live in a house that was previously occupied by a man who didn't seem very Godly at all.

Thank you, Brother! Samuel and I both appreciate the links. Samuel asked me to save both links so I can use them to figure out the interior colors for our new house. He says that I can pick out the furniture, drapes, and any carpets that we might have in the house because such as task is far too feminine for him. However, everything does have to be run by him before we order anything because he will be the head of the household and Ephesians 5:23-24 says that I have to obey him.
