I haven't read through many posts due to lack of time, but from the small amount of replies I saw most were Christian responses. I wouldn't call myself an athiest as such as I can't personally confirm anything to be 100% true and it would be arrogant of me to do so. But from the research I have done on the topic of religion I have decided that although I can't prove or disprove the existence of God, I find it highly unlikely that he exists - at least not in the sense that we imagine. A lot of people here have written some very arrogant, degrading and ignorant thoughts on athiests. That's pretty disappointing, especially if you are of a religion of love and forgiveness. That aside, I can tell you that I have morals. I have no desire to do anyone harm and never have. I have always been this way and have never been "told to" or threatened with punishment should I choose to abandon them. I am an intelligent person. I enjoy learning something new everyday and take all knowledge on board with the awareness that what we "know" today can be disproved tomorrow. I am happy. I live in a beautiful world in an amazing universe and intend on making the most of my time here. I see the attraction of being religious. Believe me, it would be nice to know that someone is looking after me, that one day I will be reunited with my family and friends. It will take too long to explain in detail but in my opinion it just doesn't add up. I came on here in an attempt to close the gap between Christian and athiest. I know it's not likely, but we're all human and we can at least come together on that. It's important that we do. I hope that this response isn't met with insults or condescending remarks, but it's out of my control I guess. Anyway, you asked the question - here's one view

If you read the Bible you would know He indeed exists. Read the following scriptures:
2nd Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

You offer a lovely example of why so many replies have been from Christians. Atheists are generally tremendously ignorant, and therefore not only unknowing of their own thoughts, but useless when it comes to explaining. For example, you suggest you wouldn't call yourself an atheist because you cannot confirm anything to be 100% true, and yet all that is required to be identified as atheist is a lack of belief in a god or gods. That's it. There are no other beliefs or confirmations to maintain. Either you believe, or you don't. What you believe beyond that isn't about atheism, it's about the nature of reality.

What possible research could you have done, considering you don't even know what it means to be atheist? (hint: " a" from the Latin meaning "without," and " theo" from the Latin meaning "gods" a+theo+ist = a person who lacks a belief in the existence of gods)

From where do you get that impression, dear? It is God's job to forgive, based on the sole criteria of belief in the amazing, fantastic events of His Son, who is also Himself, having been sacrificed in atonement for the sins of those who believe.

If that's all True Christianity™ was, that would be quite interesting. Instead, we know that no mere "someone" is looking after us, but the very King of Kings has blessed us with abundance, above and beyond what we need (Proverbs 3:10). We await the Coming of the LORD, the most anticipated event in all history, for then we shall be swept up to Heaven, gathered together to worship Jesus, and settle into a New Jerusalem were we are rulers over all creation, even the very angels (Revelation 5:10; 1 Corinthians 6:2-3). A bit more exciting than a family reunion, don't you think?

There is the heart of the mater friend; an Atheist is someone who is so arrogant that they will refuse to believe something exists simply because there is no evidence for it!
Now, how do you deal with a mind that is so closed as that? You can't!

Hi, I found interesting your phrase that God does not exist, at least not in the way WE IMAGINE. I don't know what it is that YOU imagine Him to be, but God doesn't rely on your imagination for His existence. He exists whether or not your imagination can fathom Him or not (thankfully). Romans 1:19-20, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Revelation 4:11.

Here is a very pertinent Bible Verse for why atheists deny God's existence. They think that they can wish Him away so they can cram cucumbers and garden hoses up their rectums. It's a fact.
