Wicca: I just don't get it -
04-09-2012, 04:51 AM
Can someone, please, explain this to me?
I met a woman today. She told me this:
"Christianity just didn't make sense to me. I mean, why would God have to come to earth as Himself, and sacrifice Himself to Himself, just to change His own rules about sacrifices? And besides, He's mean, and punishes everybody, and I don't see any reason to think He's real, just made up by men to keep men in charge of everything."
I said, "OK, so you are an atheist, right?"
Oh, no. "I worship the Goddess now. The only rule is you can do whatever you want as long as you don't harm anyone."
"What evidence do you have that this Goddess exists?"
"Well, the trees, and sky, and wind, and water are all there, so that proves she is real."
They turn their backs on 2,000 years of Christian tradition. 6,000 years when you add in the pre-Christian Judaic tradition.
They say they turn their backs on it because it doesn't make sense, and there's no convincing evidence because God hasn't hand-held them through their lives and written "I AM REAL" by moving the stars or something.
Then they pick up a cult created in the 1950s, mostly stolen from the work of Aleister Crowley and Rabelais from 20-40 years earlier, but niced-up a bit, and call it "true religion"!
I really can't understand it. I was about ready to wrap my head in duct tape to keep it from exploding, let me tell you!
Can someone explain this to me?
Bible boring? Nonsense!

Well I do agree with that. Male-centric religions do help keep the men in charge and let's face it, you boys are big babies when it comes to wanting to be in charge. And yet, you can't face the DREADED sniffles without constantly needing your wife/girlfriend for everything! The dreaded man cold!! But I digress. That part I do agree with her about..

I actually agree with you here (oh the horror!). Most wiccans have no idea their religion is just about 60 years old now. They confuse it with various pagan roots from which it came.
What draws many wiccans to wicca is the sense of empowerment it gives, plus some enjoy the rebellious feeling, and 95% do not, as I've said, have any idea of the origins.
However to me, the 'goddess' of wicca is more or less like jeebus in a dress.

I tried to explain above.
She's misinformed about the roots of wicca, but modern wicca makes her feel good and empowered. In the end, that's what draws people to any spiritual belief. The feeling of enlightenment, empowerment, etc.
But, and I hate to say this, you'd be totally apt in simply telling this woman that she's just wrong.
The funny thing is, a lot of wiccan symbols etc actually come from CHRISTIANITY.
Try telling them that though...

Wicca's are witches, pure and simple.
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

Interesting answer there, Zeke.....tell me, what's your criteria for determining a witch? Someone who likes Harry Potter? Someone who dresses up?
Or....do you go oldschool and is it simply a woman who knows how to do math a witch?

Then wouldn't that make it.......a duck? Sorry, I couldn't resist that one.
Seriously though, I see so many christians like yourselves call people 'witches' just because they read the astrology column.
And in the olden days it was independent women who lived without husbands, were smart and managed to prosper - all without a man (oh my, no!) - so they *must* be brides of the devil, surely!
It all really points to one thing, it was the same then and it's the same now.
Men cannot handle women empowered in any kind of way - it must be sacrilege!!!

Women empowered in any way is an abomination in front of God. I wouldn't expect someone who dances naked at midnight while sacrificing vegetables to Satan to understand the purity of God's message but I'll try anyway.
1 Timothy 2:9-15
9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. 11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
TimothyThe First book of Timothy pretty much hits the nail on the head in summary of what God wants for women.

Why would a woman want to act like a man? Do you leave your armpit hair long, too, so you can pretend to be more manly?
God made women to be, well, women. Not men, not man-like, not almost manly. Feminine. Delicate. Subservient. We were created to compliment men, to be their help meet. Why does a woman want to deny the beautiful creation He created in her to pretend to be a man?

Some people simply cannot accept that they don't know what will happen after death and that terrifies them in life. They believe poetry, they create superstitions, they honestly think they have the power to manipulate reality through certain words and actions. It's sad, really, to see people grab onto such foolishness in order to feel empowered in a world in which they feel out of control.
I am so grateful our LORD Jesus came to reveal the Truth.

Umm, Brother Redeemed, I'm very sorry to be the one to point this out because I know that it is not my place, but, uh . . . . the Epistles of Timothy were written by Paul and sent to Timothy. Of course, I'm always getting confused between the "send to" address and the "return address" on envelopes. Why, the envelope that comes with my credit card bill so I can mail payment has a little placemarker for the stamp and a reminder that I need to place a stamp on the envelope so that it can get delivered. Thank goodness for that, or the responsibility of having a credit card would be too much for me--since I am merely a woman, that is.
Very contritely yours,

Of course it doesn't make sense to man. That is why intelligence is a curse. People will start to think they can comprehend any concept because they are slightly smarty than most other people. God's work is incomprehensible. This is why we have faith.

Wicca is just an obvious and unfounded however thorough justification for the violent abomination that is gay anal sex. The irony is that gay sex is destroying the environment that the feminazi midwives and wafish homos who practice Wicca so cherish. They are afraid to harm a mosquito, but they have no problem ravaging the anus of an innocent child in order to accumulate mystical prowess.

I'm considering just giving up. There ain't no way you all are converting to Wicca now. And the law the woman spoke of was the Wiccan Rede.
An ye harm none, do what ye will
There is also a law which some of us follow called The Threefold Law
Ever mind the rule of three, three times your actions return to thee. This lesson well, thou must learn, thou only gets what thou dost earn.
