NOTE: I've used the Biblos site for the King James verse, Revelation 21:21, with the remaining verses of the chapter too. Any comments as to whether that (as opposed to just the single verse, like this) might be to difficult for the younger age groups would be appreciated. The KJV site now offers the 1769 edition in red, which matches well - but it does suggest that modernity is OK which, as we all know, it is not because it leads to gender conflict, homosexuality, prostitution and drugs. Or should I stick with the 1611 edition? It get very confusing here sometimes, Rev. Rodimer I think I need to go and lie down

Sister
7(i) reminds of that giant sea serpent 'leviathan'.
Isaiah 27:1
In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sworde shall punish LEUIATHAN the piercing serpent, euen LEUIATHAN that crooked serpent, and hee shall slay the dragon that is in the Sea.
Genesis 7:5
And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.

Before going with 7 i as Leviathan I'll ask the Creation Scientists whether the identity or hue of that crooked serpent has been determined. I hope that's OK.
Thanks for the suggestion and I'll see what they say

There has been a lively discussion going on concerning LEUIATHAN and The Blue Hypothesis. I have no opinion on the subject of course and after weighing up all the arguments for and against (actually there weren't any "against" arguments) am now able to include LEUIATHAN and Isaiah 27:1 at 7i
I would like to thank Mr Sole for his patience and for his valuable contribution especially as this is a children's palette and for the lovely LEUIATHAN picture he supplied. Here it is shown against a background of 3iv (an as yet unnamed hue) and I think he stands out beautifully. Note the lovely red eyes.
The palette mostly comprises actual hues available from artists' suppliers in the form of either pencils or artist's block. One exception would be 2vii - I'd thought that if a child had a red pencil they already used for drawing Bible pictures it'd be a shame to say they couldn't use it and the same for Rows 6 & 7 (except leprosy set and gold kit) where I have used standard hues so that the little ones can use some of their own there, too as they enjoy illustrating all those cool Bible stories. LEUIATHAN is a great match and will go well with any of the reds.

Thank-you Sister
Colour 6 vii should be named Red Sea after that famous verse:
Exodus 14:21
And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
The colour in your palette is exactly the same blue as in this life-like illustration:
Genesis 7:5
And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.
John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Maybe 3 iv can be " Doggie Dinner (Jezebel)" or something?
I like to think she bled a lot when she was so mightily thrown from the Tower of Babble, or wherever it was.
2 Kings 9:10 And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.

Red Sea -
06-01-2012, 12:25 PM
Exodus 14:21 Red Sea - although not a smiting in itself, the parting of the Red Sea is a wonderful reminder of the Majesty of God and the culmination of a series of plagues upon the Egyptians. Later they were all killed by drowning. The picture supplied by Mr Sole is a good match [in the clipping (below) hue Nº 6 vii is the little square, top left]
II Kings 9:10 contains another exciting lesson in God's Awsome Power. God tells us how He wants to be worshipped and does not appreciate other ways to "know" Him. He is to be praised and loved and not to be sneered at. Jezebel thought up a novel way to "know all about" God - in fact she was worshipping satan and God killed her. I've included verse37 too.
Thanks for those contributions.

Re: Smitten With Joy (children's palette competition) -

I'd like to propose another color name:
7ii: Living Dead
Matthew 27:52-53
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
Bible boring? Nonsense!

That's a great suggestion. However as this is a children's palette, I'd like them to be able to read the actual name ("frogge" for example) in the verse. I'll bring this up at our next Bible study and compare descriptions of The Dead In Christ from Revelation so that the kids don't appear ill informed when sharing their palette with friends. (I understand that some posters here send their progeny to government financed schools.)
And now I'm remembering all those sleepless nights aghast: "What link format should I use?" or "Does the font look better red?", "serif or sans serif?" I dream; it's there again. A 12 enormous TimesNewRoman glowering in the murky depths with clear intent to pounce.
In the case of Matthew 27:52-53 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. KJV I thought a nice red font looked better
Would that be OK?

So how about 'Bodies of the Saints' as the colour name, it is directly from the verse.

I'm a little concerned that the word "bodies" might cause masturbation so I'll leave it up to the Rev. M., how about "open grave"?
The hue is really a very good match with other artistic representations of the cadaver, revivified or otherwise. I have not included a warning with that link because this is how most people choose to be, in their interactions with God - despite His warnings and His infinite compassion and children must be made aware of that fact.
II Chronicles 30:9 For if yee turne againe vnto the Lord, your brethren and your children shall finde compassion before them that leade them captiue, so that they shall come againe into this land: for the Lord your God is gracious and mercifull, and will not turne away his face from you, if ye returne vnto him.

Sister I congratulate you on your concerns but would point out that the word 'bodies' is written in the KJV Bible 31 times. A word that might cause masturbation would not be so frequently used in the Bible and as such must be suitable for a children's colour palette.

Sister, you are doing such wonderful work here and I am so glad I have been able to contribute, in my own little way.
I have been thinking, do you think we should call 3 iv Jezreel (which is also mentioned in the Bible quote) instead of Jezebel? Is mentioning her name too provocative for children? Or by removing her name, as we merely hiding her sin?
There is also a special underwire bra manufactured in the big cities under the brand name Jezebel, and I would hate for children to search for further information on our paint color, and instead have them exposed to this:

An excellent point, Sister! Pictures like that could lead to fantasies about finish carpentry, or pirates walking a particularly flat plank, and eventually to Pastafarianism and/or homosexuality!

Thank-you for raising that point. Questions about Jezreel take us to Hosea, a very important prophet, and the strumpet Gomer.
James 4:4,7a Ye adulterers, and adulteresses, know yee not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoeuer therefore will be a friend of the world, is the enemy of God…Submit your selues therefore to God:

In Ephesians we see how God commands the husband to love a wife: he is to cleanse it:
Ephesians 5:25-26a Husbands, loue your wiues, euen as Christ also loued the Church, and gaue himselfe for it: That he might sanctifie & cleanse it
©1611
God only wants the very best for His children and we know the protection He promises as a comfort and a joy. How terrible it must have been for Him to have a chosen people who so longed to go a-whoring.
HOSEA 1
4 And the Lord said vnto him, Call his name Iezreel; for yet a little while, and I will auenge the blood of Iezreel vpon the house of Iehu, and will cause to cease the kingdome of the house of Israel.
5 And it shall come to passe at that day, that I will breake the bow of Israel in the valley of Iezreel.
©1611 The boy served as a reminder of God's Justice. God knew that tart would be unable to control itself and sure enough. A daughter turned up. How wretched poor Hosea must have felt to see his children labelled in this way but how much more wretched must Christ have felt to take on the sins of the whole world (subject to numerous conditions which the vast majority will never fulfill). God knew how to communicate His despair:
Hosea 1:6 ¶ And shee conceiued againe and bare a daughter, and God sayd vnto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah:
for I will no more haue mercy vpon the house of Israel: but I will vtterly take them away.
©1611
Jesus does not want that for any of His Own and has given us The Bible to guide and protect. We have His Word. Thanks for your suggestion Cookie, which I'll think about & I noticed that Rev. M's link has been sold off so I'll need to update that too.

OK, I have decided [subject to being corrected by The Pastors as appropriate] to leave Jezebel as it is. In order to identify such women as disgusting filth deserving of being sorted by dogs in the gutter it is necessary for children to know who she is and what she did. The latest version of JesOS will filter all undergarment adverts.

2 v Flowers I have preferred this to verse 33 context because it alerts the palette user to enhanced uncleanness associated even with items touched by a man who has been envenomed, the potential threat far outweighing any defilement he may otherwise encounter.
