Explaining Biblical "Contradictions" -
08-26-2012, 03:34 PM
Dear Friends,
Those hate criminals who oppose the Christian reconstruction of America often point to Bible verses are claim to find a contradiction. In reality, no such contradictions exist.
Take for example, Psalm 30:17:
Quote:
The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
|
and Matthew 19:29:
Quote:
And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
|
A scoffer could point to these verses as evidence that God does, and does not, want us to obey and attend to our mothers and fathers.
But, in fact, another Bible verse, Matthew 5:29, makes this perfectly clear:
Quote:
And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
|
So... in the event that you have to choose between God and your mother and father, go with God according to God's encouragement to you, even though you'll lose the eye according to God's wrath with you for doing what God told you to do.
Honestly, this is just common sense.
Yours in Him,
bab <---- easy like Sunday morning

I think it is clear by now the people who claim the Bible has contradictions are - Communists (as in Muslims)
- Pillow biters for Satan
- Want to rape small children all day
Frankly to any reasonable TRUE Christian The Bible is as clear as crystal
Time to reclaim our FREEDOM from the “Mullah in Chief” and his growing activist voter hoards of socialists, communists, anti-Semites, anti-Christians, atheists, radical gays and lesbians, feminists, illegal immigrants, Muslims, anti-Anglo whites and others.

The question you should be asking yourself is, "Am I Saved or will I end up in the fiery pits of Hell to be Satan's boy-toy for all of eternity?"
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Oh, Sister, let's go ahead and give him the full explanation.
Quote:
How did Judas die, by hanging or falling down?
Matthew 27:3-8 and Acts 1:16-19
- By hanging (Matthew 27:3-8) - "Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? See to that yourself!" 5And he threw the pieces of silver into the sanctuary and departed; and he went away and hanged himself. 6And the chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the temple treasury, since it is the price of blood." 7And they counseled together and with the money bought the Potter’s Field as a burial place for strangers. 8For this reason that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day."
- By falling (Acts 1:16-19) - "Brethren, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. 17"For he was counted among us, and received his portion in this ministry." 18(Now this man acquired a field with the price of his wickedness; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out. 19And it became known to all who were living in Jerusalem; so that in their own language that field was called Hakeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)"
There is no contradiction here at all because both are true. A contradiction occurs when one statement excludes the possibility of another. The Second Law of Logic, the Law of Non Contradition, (LNC) says that something cannot be both true and false at the same time and in the same sense. It is not a contradiction to describe something differently: Judas was hung and Judas fell down. Both are possible since neither negates the possibility of the other. A contradiction occurs when one statement makes another statement impossible but both are said to be true. So, what happened here is that Judas went and hung himself and then his body later fell down and split open. In other words, the rope or branch of the tree probably broke due to the weight and his body fell down and his bowels spilled out.
Also, notice that Matt. 27:3-8 tells us specifically how Judas died, by hanging. Acts 1:16-19 merely tells us that he fell headlong and his bowels gushed out. Acts does not tell us that this is the means of his death where Matthew does.
|
Now, of course there are some people who will ask, "Gee, how could he fall 'headlong' if he'd hanged himself? Wouldn't he fall feet-first, not head-first?"
Honestly, the answer is so obvious that it doesn't even bear stating.

Hmm OK, I suppose that makes sense...
Does it not make sense though, due to the fact that the bible has been translated numerous amounts of times and has been copied from copies of the original that some phrases or words may be mis-translated or just simply altered? I read somewhere that 'spirit' and 'wind' translate into the same Hebrew word for example.
I'm not saying the bible is wrong, but just wondering how your certainty is assured.

Our certainty is assured that because God will burn us forever if we don't believe in in Him. But let's all complicate things.

Friend,
That is just petty flogging the details. The key point here is The Spirit of the Lord moved Judas to betray Jesus and then moved to kill Judas for it. God decided Judas was the worst traitor that ever was before Judas was born and God made so Judas committed treason and now Judas is burning in Hell for it.
Facing a proven killing machine like our God, are you going to question Him?

Hebrew!? The 1611 King James Bible is in English! Everything else is toilet paper at best.
Freedom means voting for Donald Trump!
To most "Christians" The Bible is like a license agreement. They just scroll to the bottom and click "I agree". All those "Christians" will burn in Hell!

I see you hate God enough to suggest that the all-powerful, all-knowing Creator of the universe is unable to retain control over the text of His own Book . . . something Danielle Steele can manage to do quite successfully.
Why do you think Danielle Steele is more powerful than God?

I never even suggested that Danielle Steele is greater than God. But since you ask... at least I can see copies of Steele's manuscripts, which haven't been translated, and an original copy exists.
I'm sorry @Cranky Old Man, but I believe that the bible was originally written in Hebrew, the language spoken by the people at the time of Christ in that region. The 1611 bible is a translation into the relatively new language of English. Does your church believe the bible was written in 1611?

Do you believe that God either reneged on His promise to preserve His words or was too wimpy to do so?

Why would Paul of Tarsus write in Hebrew when he was Roman and every scholar of the time wrote in Greek?

Good God, this topic has been discussed to death years ago even in popular culture; The New Testament was written in Koine Greek and by all accounts faithfully translated by the group that did the KJV1611. The only disagreement is over the manuscripts used for the translation and the language since the 1611 is in anarchic form of English. The key point is Jesus words were spoke in Aramaic, then translated into Koine Greek by the Gospel writers and then into Early Modern English by the 1611 team.
All this you could have easily and quickly learned by simply doing a Google search "Dr" Cheddar Joel, yet you chose to wallow in your own ignorance. Oh yes, it's we TRUE Christians™ are uniformed ones according to you.
Why is that?

Sure, you have. She can control the content of her books; you say God cannot.
When can you see Danielle Steele's original manuscripts? How do you know they still exist?
Not translated? Do you really think the fourth highest selling author (worldwide) of all time has not seen her books translated into dozens of languages?

Oh let's do better than that Reverend Rodimer - Julius Caesar's The Gaelic Wars. That was written roughly the same time as the Gospels. Why is Caesar taken at his word yet God just can't be?
