Jesus in the Civil War -
07-12-2011, 08:53 PM
The other day I was scrubbing the concrete vats in my basement with a bleach solution, and I began wondering: If Jesus were alive during the Civil War, which side would he have been on? It's an interesting question with more complex facets that one would normally think.
Obviously, Jesus had no problem with slavery (the Bible is quite clear on the issue), believed deeply in states rights, and believed a 'Godly' nation should be run by an Anglo-Centric elite that would establish a Christian theocratic state to politically dominate Blacks and other minorities. So we know he would have sided with the South. But what if he had been born in Pennsylvania or Connecticut? Would he have become a Copperhead (a Northerner that favored the South) or would he have left the North to go fight for the Confederacy? And... if Jesus actually left the North to actively fight with the South against the tyranical Northern aggression, wouldn't the South surely have won the war?

It is so great of you, Brother Worthington, to raise important intellectual questions like this one. We cannot fully understand our dear Savior unless we can place Him in the proper context of our times.
This is a difficult question because His heart must truly have been with the Bible Belt and white people. Yet, I believe I am correct in recalling the first Baptist churches were in what is now New England. This would have been, and remains, the only Christ-centered denomination.
It just seems like he would have been first in the New England area and the gone south to support white people there.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

Brother Monty challenges us all to think like Jesus in our daily lives. Often Jesus does things we don't understand, but turns out to be for our own good in the long term. I agree that logically Jesus would have chosen to live in the South during the Civil War and probably would have chosen to support the South in succeeding from the Union. On the other hand, the North was rapidly industrializing and it turns out that we were going to need to build a mighty fortress of weapons for Jesus to fight two world wars, kill chinks and gooks in Vietnam, along with the need in our own time to kill mooselimbs. There was no way this was going to happen with some nigras picking cotton in the fields, and Jesus wisely allowed the despicable Lincoln to keep the Union together.
There are quite a few people today that say the Civil War was about taxes and not about slavery. There is anecdotal evidence in my own family through old letters and oral story telling that they were surprised that the Yankees came down South hooting, hollering and shooting up the place only to find out that all they wanted was the nigra's – "hell, why didn't they just say so – they could just have them for all we cared". They must have been pretty fed up with them by the time the Civil War rolled around – it's hard enough today getting them to work when you pay them. I know the Bible (KJV1611) is pretty clear on slavery, but nigra's are the sons of Ham (which might be altogether a different matter). There's probably a warning somewhere that nigra's don't make good slaves, nor good presidents; but the LIEbrals have re-written the history books and now we are condemned to repeat these mistakes.
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.
...and get off my lawn

With Jesus in charge there would have been no civil war. He would have persuaded the states to send all the blacks back to Africa as missionaries. That in turn would defeinitely ruin support for Lincoln, hence no reason for secession. The more than 600000 good lives spilt was a tragedy.
Matt 5:17-20 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:..."

Wow...
I thought the racism could not come to new heights on this board. It's a sad day when white people claim that these very black people who had been born in this country should be forced to leave it!
I strongly dislike you, sir!

You sicken me with your racist agenda, you awful man.
Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Proverbs 25:21-22 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.

It is obvious. Jesus loves the US of A and would have sided with the Union.

Godly point. Jesus gifted us with African Americans. Who are we to reject His gift? This was the point of The South; yes Blacks are humans like the rest of us, but they are an untutored people, they needed help. So given some time and love and in only hundred, two hundred years Blacks will be ready to join the Christian community as free men and Christians themselves! There was no need for the American Civil War.
Time to reclaim our FREEDOM from the “Mullah in Chief” and his growing activist voter hoards of socialists, communists, anti-Semites, anti-Christians, atheists, radical gays and lesbians, feminists, illegal immigrants, Muslims, anti-Anglo whites and others.

I had always assumed that Jesus was punishing the south for being so lenient and carefree with their slaves. Besides that, I believe there was a lot of illegitimate racemixing, so it is unfortunate that such upstanding Christian men decided to fall prey to the dangers of some fresh-off-the-boat African voodoo practitioner's wiles. Don't worry, Jesus punished the north even more: He gave them a sodomite atheist (Abraham Lincoln) for a president!

I think quite possibly you are all wrong on this particular matter. I doubt Jesus took any notice of the American Civil War at all. In fact it was pricisely because of his lack of interest in America in those days, that the war was allowed to occur in the first place. You have to remember in the 1860s America was not Gods favourite nation in the slightest. This was in the days when Britain was great and with God at our side, we ruled the waves and our empire stretched around the world. I think Jesus spent most of his time and energies discussing with Queen Victoria which African nation we should plunder next.
A more interesting hypothetical question might be. If the civil war was to start today, WWJD?

What?? What is this Revisionist History??
England was never a world power like the USA.
They voted weak woman after weak woman into office, and I was told this is what lead to your nation's stunted growth.

Yes thank you Mistress Cookie, you are of course quite correct. The good Rev Osborne has already pointed out the error of my previous post and I was deducted 20 points for an infraction, for suggesting True Christians might not be telling the truth. Rather naively I had believed some of the lies my school teachers and parents had told me.
I apologise for any confusion I may have caused and promise I shall try much harder to align my ideas and thoughts closer to those who obviously know better.

I am sorry you recieved an infraction...but we all have to learn the Truth© somehow.
Yet this is an example of why home schooling is so important. We can't count on the LIEberal government and SICKular society to teach children history....their interests are too slanted.
Home schooling is really the only option. You could probably join a True Christian™ home schooling program and go through school all over again, if you'd bring snacks?

Did you know that jesus was against slavery? idiot... Did you also know that jesus loved all races without bias? And finally did you know that jesus wanted Christianity to be spead to all cultures and all people? So tell me why would jesus want to punish the south for being lenient to black people? He would've rather had slavery abolished...

If He wanted slavery abolished, why do you think Jesus™ preached in his time about laws for slaves? Why would He oversee the time-honored tradition of slavery being continued right into the 20th Century? Do you think he doesn't SEE ALL? He would have smote the caretakers of the slaves if he were against it.

Leviticus 25:44-46 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids (i.e., slaves) , which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. / Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. / And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.
Exodus 21:20-21 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. / Notwithstanding, if he continue (i.e., lives) a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.

When did Jesus ever say He wanted slavery abolished? Jesus said,
Luke 12:47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
So He was saying that all slaves should be beating and the ones who knew they where doing wrong should be beaten more. Since He was on the subject don't you think this would have been a good time to mention if He was anti slavery?
If slavery was wrong then it was news to the early Church and apostles. This scripture instructs Christian slaves to work hard for their Christian owners,
1 Timothy 6:1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. 2And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
This bit is talking about you.
3If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
also
Ephesians6:5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
I am assuming you will give an apology to Henry and admit that you are the idiot?
YIC
Jack.
Genesis 22:2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
I know God wouldn't let me believe in Him if He didn't exist.

Friend,
The personal attacks are unacceptable. Attack the argument, not the man.
Second - how else are we Christian going to fulfill Christ Great Commission besides enslaving people have forcing them to convert under pain of death? Would you rather those blacks remain free to go to Hell? Sure they had short, miserable lives were they were worked to death but they are in Heaven now.
