Birth Announcement -
10-15-2014, 08:12 PM
Sisters, this afternoon I gave birth to 2 delightful little boys. It came as a bit of a surprise, but I must have got my dates mudded (again!) and wasn't expecting anything to happen until next month. Nor was I prepared for another set of twins.
I dare say some officious socialized health-care worker will turn up tomorrow and insist on weighing and measuring them, but they look like fine strapping babies to me.
My husband will be thrilled when he calls home. He's in some sand-infested country right now, on a marketing trip, but I know he'll be glad to have missed all the fuss and also pleased at what he calls my "economy of pregnancy".
Any suggestions as to names will be most welcome. At the moment, the children are calling them 6 and 7 (they are the 6th and 7th boys). Little Hannah tried calling them 7 and 8 but was shouted down.
Please rejoice with us, for we are truly Blessed.
Psalm 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Well done, Joanna. You are certainly far more Godly than my missus, who has so far only spawned once - to a screaming peeing pooing puking female
I don't suppose you could spare one to ship to the antipodes? You could do that before your husband returns, and he would never know the difference.

Mr Farmer, I'm quite sure you don't mean to be offensive but as a True Christian™ I'd hesitate to send any child - even a girl - to filthy, Godless New Zilnd, as the natives call it. And as a loyal wife, I would never lie to my husband. Plus, of course, my other boys all know there are 2 of them, and would feel obliged to tell their father the truth. So even if I would consider it, which I wouldn't, I am very sorry but the answer must be no.
How long have you been married? But, far more important, do you have any ideas for names?
Yours in Faith,
Joanna

Thank you and my apologies. I thought you may not have wanted one - having so many sons already. I got married 11 months ago.
If I had twin boys, one would be named James (after me, of course), and the other would be named Murray after my best mate. Hope that helps.

No offense taken. And, as you have only been married 11 months, only having the one child is only right and proper. Better luck next time! And remember that we must accept the birth of some female children, because without them, there would be no True Christian™ women for our sons to marry.

Thank you. We already have a James, named after the KJV. I'm not so sure about Murray - it sounds Scotch. Is your "best mate" a Scotchman?

Don't know. His surname is 'Grey'. That sounds fairly Pommy to me. But then you would know better than I if it is a Scotch or Pommy surname. I always thought that the Scotch and Poms were from the same country anyway.

Congratulations!!! That is wonderful news!!! Do you have a Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John (the gospels)? Or what about David or Joseph? Those are my suggestions.

Re: Birth Announcement -

Our family has always had the Lord decide the name. Take the Bible before you on a table, Pray for guidance, open the book and stab your finger down. Within that verse you will find the name that God wants your sons to have.
One of the early Bathfires was Dodo, named after
2Sa:23:9: And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite.
Legend had it that, at this time, the family line nearly went extinct.
Then there was Uncle On Bathfire from Nu:16:1: Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
I never understood why God choose that name. Mind you, the rest look like anagrams or, in the case of Dathan, a make of Rumanian tractor, so I suppose it was fair.
Also, we must not forget great-great grandfather Bashemath Esau Bathfire who was 27 before they discovered it was a woman’s name.
Ge:36:13: And these are the sons of Reuel; Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.
The excuse was that it had been done in a hurry and by a guttering candle, apparently there should be a comma between Bashemath and Esau. He was renamed Nepheg from 2Sa:5:15: Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
Anyway, I hope that helped.

Congratulations! Especially because they're boys.
Ezekiel is a nice name, though it's a name that sets a high bar for success. Maybe Billy-Reuben for the other one?
Please let us know what your husband decides to name the little tykes!

I have always liked Abednego. Many names have a particularly apt significance; had you considered Mahershalalhashbaz?
Abednego DANIEL 3
16-27 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire. And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them. KJV
Mahershalalhashbaz ISAIAH 8
1-4 Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz. And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah. And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Mahershalalhashbaz. For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria. KJV

Please make a thread of your own in the " Introductions" section of the forum, so that we can properly greet you. Tell us about yourself, your church, and how you came to find Jesus.
And if you're here to flame us, better take a look at THIS before making an even bigger ass out of yourself.
I will pray that the Holy Spirit enter you and chase the demons out of your rectum and let Jesus fill you with His Grace. If you use your God-given free will to reject Christ and His temporary death on the cross for my sins, then you are sending yourself to hellfire.
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

Just to let you know, my husband finally called home last night from wherever he is (I forgot to ask) and said "Well done, woman." As my children said, I am truly blessed!
Proverbs 31:28
He told me to register them as Ezekiel and Daniel. I understand his reasons for choosing Ezekiel, but not Daniel - maybe he just leafed through to the next OT book. If so, it's a good thing he leafed forwards rather than backwards, because Lamentations Lytton-Vasey would be quite a mouthful.
Apparently his business trip is going well and he hopes to be back to meet the babies by the end of next month.
Thank you all for your suggestions. Sister Mitza, I worry about the "halal" in the middle of Mahershalalhashbaz. But Abednego is a splendid name, so very manly.

I hadn't noticed the -halal- in there before. If you pronounce it "Mah- ersha- lalhash- baz" you don't get it I suppose but your husband has chosen 2 lovely names for his children and I hope you don't let him down.

Goodness, I wouldn't ever dream of letting him down.
In this Godless country we are obliged by secular law to register our children with government apparatchiks, rather than with the church. When I called them, they said that the "next available appointment" was on Wednesday, and - on top of that - they expected me to turn up at their local office a couple of miles away to do the paperwork! So I mentioned this to Pastor Steve and I don't know what he said to them, but this morning some ghastly oik in a cheap, shiny, badly-cut suit turned up at the gates and groveled and said the person I spoke to on the phone had had "absolutely no idea" I was Matthew's wife. Honestly, who else did he think I was?
Anyway, the job is now done. Officially, the elder twin is Zeke and the younger one is Dan, but as nobody can tell them apart at this stage we'll just have to wait and see which one shows leadership.
