I am 79 years old -
06-16-2018, 12:45 PM
Forgive me as I am trying to figure out how to use this computer. My grandkids bought it for me and I am trying to figure it out. I noticed this website while on a website called Youtube and thought "well golly gee I am Christian and want to be around like minded folks. I attend a baptist church in New England. Always have with my lovely wife Greta. My name is Jameson but my friends call me Ol Thumper because when I find someone doing something offensive like my grandkids do I THUMP my pocket Bible and recite the verse of Matthew 15:12. Dang colon took me a long time to figure out how to make.
Matthew 15:12
Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
I have been Christian all my life. My family has generations of Christians dating back even before the Civil War. My great peepaw used to own a plantation and hold congregations every Sunday.
Forgive me I would put a picture of me on here but can't figure it out. Going to call my grandkids to ask for help unless someone here can help me. My address is <<<personal information removed by JesOS>>>.

There's a lot of folk of our age have difficulty with their colon. They say red meat does it - I say it is from God to make me realize how grateful I should be for everything else. Job:30:27: My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.

At your age you best be getting your affairs in order. Have you fessed up to Jesus for all your sins? You might want to start a list of them right here so we could help you get them forgiven.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

I am not Canadian although I know of the joke that we are close to the border. What may vouch for Maine being American is the fact we have a governor who has been Trump before Trump was President Trump. Governor Lepage still brings a tear to my eye and I salute him every day in addition to Mr Trump. They may both get a lot of bad fake news press, but they do push my personal evangelical values to fruition.

I do recall hurricanes Edna and Carol hitting during 1954. Two in one year when I was a young man. But recently, by God's grace and with how conservative Maine is, we haven't had a hurricane in 20 years. That was Floyd if I recall. My wife and I were preparing that day. I remember it like it was yesterday. We battened down our windows with plywood, loaded up the old station wagon, and made our trip to safety in Florida at our condo we own down there. We are what you may call snowbirds hahaha. Go down in the winter and stay in Maine spring and fall and summer. Lots of people our age do it. Something special about Floyd though. I remember before we set off for Florida to safety we prayed to God and Jesus himself that our home and valuables remain safe. God must have heard my prayers and rewarded my wife and I for being such devout Christians because when Floyd hit landfall, it turned into a tropical storm that spared our home and town completely! Just goes to show with prayer and devotion to God, you are protected.
Samuel 12:24 Only fear the LORD and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.

Thank you for replying. It certainly sounds more Godly than highfalutin social events such as in L.A. or Greenland. Is your wife still alive?

My wife is most definitely alive. She's been my sweetheart since we laid eyes on each other when we were both 15. I tell you, I had no problem winning her over. She was the only girl from my school that I enjoyed having conversations with. Especially when it would come to religion and politics. Ohhh and she won ME over easily when she showed up at my doorstep before curfew to drop off an apple pie she made for me and my parents. It was homemade!
We both grew up and were born Georgians from Savannah. Before we started dating officially, I remember saving my pennies to be able to afford a wooden box with the American flag painted on it alongside a bouquet of flowers to give to her father and mother respectively. It was with their blessing that we were able to date as they trusted me knowing my hardlined Christian upbringing. I think the tipping point was me resisting the temptations to go to the sock hops and soda shops where trouble was known to brew.
I have no regrets marrying my wife and if given the choice to rewind time I would do it all over again! I must ask you Mitzi, are you married? I delight in hearing the stories of how people meet and fall in love with the mates that are chosen for them by Jesus. A fair warning though as you can never be too careful anywhere in the world though. I am faithful to four people; God, Jesus, my wife, and the president of the United States. No room for devilish sins in my home.
I would tell you the story of how we ended up in Maine but I am afraid I may start to ramble if I did so. For that I'll save that story for another time. Blessed be to me and my wife for living in a state where we have one of the lowest crime rates in the country! May it be because the state is 95 percent white? I like to think for that, we don't have gang violence or have to worry about illegals. I have many stories about how I would ramble on without thinking about it. One time I was off duty and offered a drink with my commanding officer while I was starting out in the military. We had such a long talk about how proud we were to be Americans that my commanding officer made me do 200 push ups in the middle of The Army Cantina for rambling. I did it no problem and swore to myself and God that I would keep my reminiscing and rambles to a minimum and for that I will save the story of how my wife and I ended up in Maine for another time.

I know as little about dating as about tipping, having grown up in an environment where neither of these things occur. Tipping deprives people of the opportunity to improve themselves by looking for better employment and, we felt, was condescending and paternalistic on the part of anyone offering tips. For example if a nursing assistant received tips for doing no more than her job required where is the incentive for her to become a registered nurse? Similarly for a floor sweeper aspiring to become a nurse. The equivalent sentiment prevailed where dating is concerned and was virtually unheard of, except in imported comics. I do not recommend reading comics.

Re: I am 79 years old -

I always thought it was customary to tip. That's what my pappy and mama did when I was a kid. Now that you mention it though, I do recall a time back in the day when my wife and I would go on vacation. Most places we'd visit would surprisingly lack the usual Country Kitchen Buffet or even any buffet style restaurant believe it or not. Most trips we took back in the day would land us in actual sit down restaurants. The point being here was that when my wife and I left a dollar for the tip that I THOUGHT the waitstaff would appreciate, they instead would yell obscenities or have the not so subtle sarcasm in their voices. Perhaps Mitza, looking back in the day with my own experiences, you may have a good point about tipping. People are really just grateful to be paid the right amount for the job done and not a penny more. Boy am I ashamed of myself. I'll surely have to tell Munich wife about this revelation. We will never tip people starting today.
I don't mean to ramble on Mitza but I have a biblical question that ties into all of this. I've been faithful to the Lord and would always put at least 25 percent of my income into the tithing hats at the churches I attend. Most, if not all the time, I would give more than I thought was required of me to help support God's work. Surely God and Jesus is an exception when it comes to tipping. Boy, talking about tipping gets me going about the old days when I was a young man doing after school work painting the neighbor's fences and mowing their lawns for a whole nickle just so I could use that money to contribute to the church in my own special way. My pastor was always proud of me for this. In fact, I must say that it landed me the front desk at Sunday school all the time.

Re: I am 79 years old -

Jesus is clear that 100% is appropriate for poor people to offer to further His work. This is not a parable but an observation commented on by Jesus.
Luke 21:1-4 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: for all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had. Sometimes people say to me How do you know Jesus was not being critical of her extravagance and it's really not necessary to think about this because there is a vivid example concerning a more affluent couple who thought that less than 100% was adequate and since it was their money, whose business was it anyway? The Bible explains how being born heathen need not impede God's forgiveness, or being a wanton thing or even a cannibal from what the missionaries tell us. He forgives because He remembers Jesus being tortured, whipped so that by His stripes healing might flow. Even devils causing deafness and convulsions are overcome! God forgives. But when money is withheld, that is very different. In such a case, God kills.
Acts 4:36-37; 5:1-3 And Joses.….a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet. But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession and kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? We're not told why Ananias decided on less than 100% perhaps a mental relative or elderly but sadly heathen aunt? Maybe he fancied one of those Italian sports jobs. Who knows? But clearly Joses had the right idea just like that widow and speaking of widows guess who's about to become one?
Acts 5:5-6 Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. Soon enough Mrs Ananias, that is Sapphira, turned up. She was now a widow but evidently didn't know which is immaterial because God smote her with the dropping dead too. If only they'd donated 100% or presumably stuck with temple orgies in adoration of Aphrodite or Venus or whatever name was in vogue at the time. But no, they had to freeze onto the stuff and that'd how we know Jesus was not being critical when He commented on those two mites which is not the equivalent of tipping. Elsewhere the concept of fair pay is covered, where loiterers were taken on for vineyard duties and as often happens there were imagined grievances about pay. The householder was having none of it:
Matthew 20:13-15a He answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? As you can see, God is always consistent and we know we can trust Him when He tells us about Salvation. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be frightened of Him as is plain from responses among the congregation when people started dropping dead. He only wants us to love Him. Is that really too much to ask?

I applaud your correct use of scripture to back up fact. I'll make this quick for you Mitza. It is obvious to me you have a very good Pastor who has taught you well. I must say it must be the same for your husband and kids. Heck, I would have to say it must be the same for all who attend your church. I am mightily impressed how the grace of God has influenced you. I remember back in the day a time when my wife and I had a good Pastor. Unfortunately, he was arrested a couple of years ago. I'm not too keen on what the details were but if I recall the little details, it involved him taking an elderly parishioner to an ATM machine. Must've been a new law or something put in the Obama Administration. Not really sure though.
Before I start rambling on, I want to make this quick. I invite you and your husband to stay at one of the condos my kids own. They're away for the rest of the summer and one of them even sits right on the shore of Bar Harbor Maine. The reason I invite you is to help reach the youth of the church I attend. Maybe you or your husband could help them more than my Pastor. Would that be sound? If not, I would be more than happy to fly my wife and I to wherever it is the church you attend, rent a hotel room, enjoy what sounds like a Godly place it is where you and your husband live. Is there a way I can message you? I have much stationary that I would love to use to mail with.
PS: the lady from Murder She Wrote isn't really from Maine. That show was a lie. There is no Cabot Cove Maine!!!!!

Re: I am 79 years old -

God's message is straightforward and to appreciate His love all that's needed is to read The Bible. There are people, obviously none of them are Baptists, who think raving on at length augments God's message such as Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, Mormons or Scientologists or whatever they're calling themselves these days, Christian Scientists of all inane soubriquets! bringing us to the Cooneyites and Quakers marauding about the joint; I know that Quakers at least can read and the JW's cart around idiot pamphlets everywhere so they can probably read too so why don't they read The Bible? It needs no elucidation and I trust the Scripture posted earlier was helpful.
If purchasing Bibles to distribute in your area, or indeed if attempting to feed a mental relative, there is no passage I could find suggesting that a reduction in tithes would be appropriate. Similarly for heathen aunts. Demons producing the "mental" and the "geriatric" are dealt with by prayer .– .even the word dementia has demon as its root .– .but convulsing demons require fasting, too.
Matthew 17:14-21 When they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. As you can see, not something I cooked up last night during an absinthe binge but the undiluted words of Jesus. Everyone should read The Bible.

Welcome Old Man.
Landover gets quite a few of you old coots, looking to repent just before the small bus comes and drops them off in Hell.
I recently filed the papers to declare my wife, Mrs. Hutchin's dead, being she has been gone an entire year with out a single post card, leaving a house full of children unattended and chores not done. If not for my twinn nieces, Sandi and Mandi, I'd be distraught. Fortunately, they are capable young ladies as any member of the Church will tell you. I am so glad that with the guidance of Pastor Flint, I took out two $50MM life insurance polices, on with LBC as the benefactor, Pastorial General Discretionary fund and one for myself. Once the wire transfers are done during the first week of July, I'll finally get a chance to relax. Wives, what are you going to do. I'll get remarried once the Church selects a new wife for me. I really do not have the time to take on on my own.
As far as home made pie goes, until you've dipped your tongue into a slice of Daisy Mae's super moist pie, you have no idea what a good slice it.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

My sincerest apologies MitzaTaylor. I logged on and saw I received an infraction apparently for asking for soliciting sexual thingies? That's what I was worried about and thought I made clear I didn't want to do that at all. Whoever said that to me, I hope the misunderstanding is cleared. If I came off that way I sincerely apologize. The only love I have is for Jesus and my wife in that order.
Mr Hutchins greetings. I would sure love to try a slice of that pie. I do hope though you meant your wife was Mrs Hutchins. I'd be confused if your wife was called Mr Hutchins.
