My Christianity is as valid as yours. We may disagree but that does not mean we have fundamentally different beliefs. Beliefs are. Of opinions. Opinions are facts but beliefs are based on real things that we believe in.

I believe that god made men and women for a purpose it was certainly not to fight and get all bent out of shape with each other because of our beliefs differ when really they are basically the same.

We are both Christian but I think I am the only one here acting like one.

No one who would design our beautiful planet where everything has a purpose and different people are made for different things in such an outlandish way.

That young lady will regret her rebellious words when she stands before the Lord Jesus Christ and hears Him remind her of these words: Revelation 21:8 "But the fearful, and UNBELIEVING, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

I have noticed several debates on this particular subject here. To all you godless atheists out there, let's settle this once and for all...

In the modern world it has become a widely spread lie that the earth is round. Of course, this is impossible. If the earth is round, then why don't people just fall off at the bottom?

The answer is simple: The Earth is not round!

Now, if we take a look at some scripture, it clearly tells us the earth is not round but flat:

Jeremiah 16:19:
O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

According to Jeremiah 16:19, the earth has ends. There is no way a spherical earth could have ends, and therefore the earth must be flat. The Book of Revelation tells a similar story:

Revelation 7:1:
And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

A spherical earth cannot have corners, it is scientifically impossible. The only logical explanation is that the earth is flat. Checkmate atheists!

While most modern bible versions translate Kuhg as circle a good case can be made that sphere was the sense intended by the original Hebrew.

Let's get back to the 100% level. We can be absolutely certain that when the SAME author used the word for BALL he meant something BALL shaped. You need to get off of circles and answer two questions.

1. If Isaiah used the word for BALL when he meant BALL shaped (I included the original for you) why are you making any case at all for which word he used to signify that shape? We know what word he uses 100% because he actually used it.

2. In the light of question 1, why would Isaiah use a word NOT meaning BALL shaped to signify something which (according to you) IS?

Please do not say that a ball looks like a circle. It does not. It looks like a ball. Since the author has a word for ball he must know what a ball looks like. Stop talking about circles and start talking about balls.

There's a difference between geometric shapes and geometric bodies. Shapes are flat. A circle is a shape. Ergo, a circle is flat. The Earth is described as a circle. You do the final deduction.

I noticed you referred to Isaiah's use of language. It's always good to check out what any source wrote originally where this is possible. Fortunately the major prophets have been fairly carefully looked after. It's not like Aristarchus, for example, whose work needs to be reconstructed from references by people like Archimedes for the most part.

Similarly, when we see quotes from Cleanthes or Epimenides in any context it would be helpful to know what was being quoted to understand the author's point. I would even say essential.

You suggested that "circle" could mean "compass" which includes to inscribe something (with a compass or set of dividers) or to measure something. Clearly simple calling something circular is not sufficient to describe a ball. From various angles it would also apply to cones, cylinders, roundels, saucepans, dinner plates, woks and so on. So that's a pretty vague descriptor.

"Ball" would be much better. Why did Isaiah not use that word?
