To me, this is the BEST way to describe the GOD i believe in.
The God who accepts everyone, the God who only "knows" one thing: LOVE.
I don't like/agree with the image of an avenger God.
We are his children. And I believe any parent would do anything for his child to save it.
If my child did something wrong and he had to be punished by death for example let's say, I would easily take the blame on me to give him a second chance.

You're not paying attention, dear. Your John Chrysostom explains God as hating the Jews with such a visceral loathing that should Moses himself stand before Him, He'd spit in his face. You remember Moses, right? God gave him the law that should formally identify and define what it means to be one of the "Chosen People," and Moses stood with Jesus at the Transfiguration to help identify Him as the Christ, the Son of God? He's kind of a big deal, and one to sit up and pay attention to.

Do you not hear what God said to Jeremiah about the Jews? ‘Do not intercede for these people, because even if Moses and Samuel shall stand before my face I will not listen to them.’ That is how far some sins go beyond forgiveness and how incapable of defense they are.

In what way do you associate these warnings with the idea God only knows love? In what way do you see these "demons" to be God's children? Do you not see the call to avenge for Jesus' crucifixion in Chrysostom's sermons?

First of all, there was contributor Vasilis in POST #10235 going on about never bothering to read the Old Testament yet claiming to understand how Jesus' sacrifice worked. That would seem bizarre to me but bizarrer and bizarrer, does the explanation of relationships between mass, gravity and "curvature of space" result from a creative endeavour using the A system of time or the B system of time (#10260)? Rather pivotal in the context.

These valuable words echo with an inspiration that will undoubtedly make the sinners reconsider their sorry position.

If I may, I'd like to add an important implication of all this: If the Bible were not Divinely Inspired, how would it have been possible for Peter to refer to the Good Old Testament text in such accuracy, if God had not been there in the form of the Holy Spirit to whisper all this into his soul. Similarly, the Gospels, such as Matthew, are filled with miraculous references to the OT, which would have been impossible without Divine Intervention.

This tells us why even the simplest things, such as the shape of the Earth, are beyond their capacities to comprehend!

I try not to form opinions or to think for myself Mr Moss but God has given us reason and there are appropriate ways to use that so I do try to build up a picture of the world we live in and I want my internal model of the Universe to match reality as much as possible.

Now I don't live in a complete cocoon. Secularists do exist and in this town it's virtually impossible to avoid them, so I don't. We have conversations and I listen to what they say and try to understand what they're on about but there is a common stratum among them in everything they say, underpinning everything they do, dictating how they see the world and how they should live in it.

Crazy is not even the half of it! These outrageous libertines have cooked up an entirely oppressive set of regulations and rules for conversation, particularly in the classroom, to foist upon us the world view to legitimise their alternate universe with its Mars-probes and Moon-shots and claims to understand origin questions. Just look at the stuff they've piled up; honestly they don't know when to stop!

Mr Moss, that must be one weak internal model they're propping up. Not content with disregarding all evidence to the contrary they want me to climb in bed with them and accept the stuff with not even a warble! But I do warble. When they discover a discrepancy between the internal and external pictures, the former a construct of falsehoods & deception the latter a finely tuned actual universe, look at how they jerk and jolt:

When I look out of my eyes the world I see matches very well the internal model built up from infancy. Even when I use my telescope. Since this thread is several hundred pages long, excuse me if I rehash old arguments. I'm simply going to go over everything that was said in the OP that was incorrect.

I'm sorry, but the Bible is not a credible source. I realize you guys are very religious and devoted to your god, but to everyone else, it's simply not evidence. This would be like me citing Harry Potter to prove magic exists.

Now, scientists claim that Earth is spherical and rotating at a speed of between 700-1000 miles per hour, depending on your latitude. This is a very high rate of speed. You can disprove this nonsense by simply jumping up as high as you can. Really, it's that simple. What happens when you jump? You come straight down to where you were. But, if the Earth were indeed spinning at such a fast speed, wouldn't you land hundreds of feet away?

If you were to stand in the flat bed of a truck going 75 mph, and jump straight up, what would happen? You wouldn't fall straight down. You would fall out of the truck. That's because trucks move, the Earth doesn't. This experiment proves the Earth is fixed in space and doesn't move.

Evidently, you've never taken physics. The atmosphere around the earth rotates with it. You also move with the earth. This means that when you jump, since you have no horizontal propulsion, you maintain the earth's velocity due to inertia. See relativity.

In the case of the truck, you're jumping into air that's moving with the earth. The air resists your velocity to bring you to earth's velocity.

Since if the Earth is supposedly a sphere, it naturally comes to assume what would happen to people below the equator, like in Australia? Since they are underneath the sphere, wouldn't they fall off? This is where scientists come up with mumbo-jumbo like "gravity" and "centrifugal force" to explain away their theories. So, the scientists want you to think that because the earth is so much more massive than people or things, that people will naturally "stick" to the bottom of the earth because of gravity.

This can be disproved very simply. Get a balloon and inflate it as big as possible. It will be a spherical shape. Now, take a piece of paper and try to rip, tear, or cut the tiniest speck of paper possible. This paper represents a human being, much smaller in mass to the balloon, which represents the Earth. Now try and place the small piece of paper to the underside of the balloon. What happens? It falls off!

That's right. Even though the balloon is so much bigger in mass, it cannot hold the tiny paper. So if the Earth was a sphere, no one could live below the equator because they would fall off.

For this experiment to work, the balloon must be much more dense (have more atoms in it -- your balloon consists of helium and rubber, not very dense materials), and the experiment would have to be conducted independent of earth's gravity. Because you're still on earth, the balloon's gravity isn't powerful enough to overpower the earth's, and the paper falls to the earth.

Ok, this one you really can't do at home, but you can do it out in the world. Stand on the ground and look around you. What's the farthest you can see? Maybe it's a building, tree, or mountain. Now, find some place very close to it where you can get a much higher vantage point. (This also works if you're on a jet and about to take off.) Notice how in the higher place you can see much farther? You can see more of the world the higher you get. This shows the world is flat because the higher you go, the easier it is to see over obstacles. At the same time, it shows the world cannot be spherical. Because if the world was curved, the far distance would forever remain out of view because of the Earth's curvature. It would eternally be over the horizon.

If the Earth was a sphere, it would not matter how high you went, you would still see the same thing. Since this is not the case, the Earth is flat.

This happens because you are seeing over obstacles on your way. Because of the size of earth, the amount of land you can see is massive. But you can never go high enough to see China.

These experiments are all confirmed by creation scientists as being 100% accurate. If you're skeptical of the flat Earth, why don't you do these experiments so you can see truth with your own eyes.
