You are correct. The Earth is not flat. It is like a silver dollar where the mountains equate to the raised imaged of a US President, the overall thickness of the coin, the soil beneath our feet and the raised edges to retain the seas.
It the Earth were as flat as a sheet of paper, we'd have no mountains, when digging a basement, we'd open a gateway in to the fires of Hell. There would be nothing to retain our oceans.

I've traveled quite a bit doing the business of Mayor. Because of my interest in science, I take with me something others may find peculiar: a carpenter's level.

Everyonce in a while, I take the level out of the car and place it on the ground. The level shows the earth is flat.

Having established that, I get a little peeved at people who come here and claim it is a sphere. Do your own science atheists.

I've always seen science as a means of explaining how creation works and God's Word as explaining to me why it works. It's fascinating learning just how complicated and detailed everything in nature is. I know it's not a vital part of Christian living, nature is just so interesting to learn about.

Science also creates expectations that God does a great job at surpassing and proving just how impossibly powerful he is.

To successfully navigate life as a good Christian, really we don't even need to know where the stars came from or the order in which God created the beasts, but He saw fit in His wisdom to tell us anyway. As far as other things, like how stars work, how magnets work, where diseases come from, what fossils are, why children resemble their parents, where Eden was located, where the dragons and giants and unicorns went, why some humans used to live for centuries but we cap out at like 120 max nowadays, what's at the bottom of the oceans or the tops of mountains, how most of our organs work, what is matter made out of --- these are mysteries man was not meant to know. "For we walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7).

If you have a question that can't be answered by the Bible, rest assured that God knows it but it's none of our business. That's where scientists went wrong, trying to sort out "questions" they had about the Bible and then, in their arrogance, deciding that what they found with their feeble mortal senses overruled His holy word. Whenever I'm faced with a scientist I can't out-shout (not too often), I plug my ears and begin singing "BLESSED ASSURANCE JESUS IS MINE! OH WHAT A FORETASTE OF GLORY DIVINE. HEIR OF SALVATION, PURCHASE OF GOD, BORN OF HIS SPIRIT, WASHED IN HIS BLOOD" and so on. That usually shuts them up. Can I get an amen?

I'm glad you mentioned that. Light existed before there were any stars and God has not explained how stars work. Wherever light comes from, I'm pretty sure it reaches the ground and doesn't get reflected back by with to or from the firmament. If that were not so, the world itself would have to be glowing and as we know glowing rocks are too hot for life. Maybe angels could manage but not humans.

Another alternative, since we can actually see things, would be to navigate using "the 3rd eye" which is a demonic concept utterly opposed to God. I'm going out of my way to accommodate these suggestions about light and presumably our interlocutor reckons that sparkling diamonds refract light wherever it comes from. Creation scientists understand that light came before stars and I know God hasn't described how stars work – so couldn't the pre-existing light Genesis 1:3 simply be refracted by the stars once God made them? They would still be "lights" no matter how they work.

But I'm beginning to despair of any sort of answer here.

Just to digress a bit, I want to say how proud I am of our community here in LBC. You give your all to defend Jesus. You use the Bible to establish the truth no matter the bricks and arrows that come in to harm you.

When someone appears here to attack the truth, this time the Bible's declaration of a flat earth, you all join in to successfully rebuke the sinner. God Bless You.

"BUT WHY DO THESE DIAMONDS SPARKLE????" It's because of the earth's atmosphere reflecting and warping the light, but that is only a little bit, there's not enough to change it majorly.

1. Would that mean diamonds don't sparkle on the moon?

2. If the earth's atmosphere reflects the light, how does it get to the diamonds?

heavier and heavier elements until it reaches either Iron (Fe) or Lithium (Li)

3. Li (lithium) is the lightest metal and one of the lightest elements.

There are different types of colors for stars as well

3a. We already know that: all you need to do is look up. Are you suggesting this refutes the diamond hypothesis? There are red, orange, yellow, white, dark brownish-red and blue diamonds as well.

4. My real worry though is that you haven't addressed any of my questions. Here's another one. If stars are 1,200,000,000 km across, how could they fall to the earth? Where would they fit? The authority claimed for catholicism is the exact same source I'm using for my questions about the stars and moon.
