There is a post in this thread that points out that there is another thread that is dedicated to this subject. That post is dated 07-10-2010, 01:53 AM. Did you read it?

By the way, according to Einstein's general theory of relativity gravity is a consequence of the curvature of spacetime - not a "byproduct of matter displacing space" as you assert. Better that you come back after you have completed an education rather than continuing to make a fool of yourself.

That sounds like a very garbled version of MAGNETISM. Perhaps I misunderstood you? Please explain how atoms displace space.

A crusade against stupidity, according to an atheist, is a crusade against Christianity and the weapon is his own hat.

Anyway, the earth is 100% flat, even false religions agree on that. Unfortunately, their aderents are too scared to admit it.

I'm still trying to grasp your idea here and have read through your post again. It still doesn't make sense to me. You keep going on about LIGHT. From what you've written, above, I take it you're saying the sun is close because it's not blurry. The moon is not blurry either by the way. But optics does not just concern itself with light. DARKNESS also needs to be included and you have not done that, so really you're only presenting half the equation.

The colder the weather is, and the more liquid there is, the more light will bend around the curvature of the earth. This will allow you to see objects that should be hidden by the curve of the earth. Notice, however, that this doesn't happen all the time. It only happens under specific circumstances.
So what you're saying here is that you can see greater distances from Greenland because it's colder and there's more liquid there as opposed to the Amazon where it's hot and so there's not much liquid around and you can't see very far. I'm just not feeling it. You need to include more about darkness, in particular thick darkness, and explain the other points I've mentioned in more detail.

            I am confused too, Sister.

Does liquid in the air not count? Because the Amazon is quite steamy, a bit like the kitchen when you're making chutney. Also, it is easy to forget the actual river, which is mostly liquid.

I agree that this would be very helpful. This is a most interesting discussion, though!

Yes, it is interesting. I've never been to Greenland but have read the brochure. They didn't mention water but huskies got a good write-up. Huskies and ice. The moon is so crisp and bright at the moment too, you almost feel as though you could reach up and touch it.

I think he's saying that steam doesn't count. But steam condenses into vapour at its boiling point (when cooling down) so that is liquid droplets like a fog. Accordingly you could see farther in freezing fog than on Lake Victoria. I've been there. Lots of bats, like millions of them all around lights like moths. You think they're moths at first, great clouds of moths but then you realise you've got the scale wrong, they're bats and the light's not as close as you'd thought. Sort of like the opposite of what Ralphsky is telling us. Then you go indoors.

Good on you my fellow ex-gay. Although I'm having a little trouble on the ex part. [TMI REMOVED BY MODERATOR AT REQUEST OF EMBARRASSED POSTER] Any advice?
