      As already been shown in this thread The Bible tells us that the earth is only 6,000 years old. As The Bible was written by God I have to go with it. Who is the best to believe, God who created the earth so would know the best how old it is or some scientist who's "facts" are always changing?

      The liht is made of particles, travelling at the speed of 300.000 km/sec (186.000 miles/sec). That means that light is about 8 minutes to travel from the Sun to Earth, so when you see the Sun in the sky, you see it where it was 8 minutes ago.
      If this was true wouldn't these particles tear us apart?

      The same applies to other stars in the sky. You have to understand, that the Universe is HUUUGE. Our nearest solarsystem is Alpha Centauri, 4 lightyears away. With modern technology, it would take us about 73.000 years to go there.
      There is no mention of these other solar systems in The Bible therefore they either don't exist or aren't of any importance as God didn't mention them.

      And why deny those facts? Cosmology does not contradict God. It just makes Him much much bigger...
      If it contradicts what is written in The Bible then it contradicts God as He wrote The Bible (through king James scribes).

            Genesis has the earth created only 6000 years ago so your numbers are wrong. How would anyone measure something 4.5 billion years old. Anything that old would have long since worn out. Does the earth and sun look worn out to you?

              I have to go with science on the Earths age. The facts stare us in the eyes.

              To change your view on things, that is to "change your truth," does not mean that you´re wrong. I would consider it an intelligent thing to do, to throw the old "truth" away, if you find out you were wrong.

              Light particles do not have any mass, at least not that we can measure (yet) so they can´t smash anything.

              The fact that Alpha Centauri is not mentioned in the Bible does not mean that it doesn´t exist. Neither does the Bible mention computers, hamburgers, machine guns, etc. Would you then say that those things didn´t exist or were of no importance in your daily life?

                I find it very difficult to belive that the Bible is written by God. By men yes. Some of the men who wrote the Bible belived Earth to be flat. They had no idea that it was a planet floating around the sun. In fact the church denied this fact for centuries, until the truth was revealed. And it is not that hard to calculate the Earths age...

                      Neither the Bible or the Big Bang has ever been proven. It´s all based on what YOU choose to belive. From my viewpoint, Big Bang would be closer to the truth than the Bible. Not "The Truth," merely closer to it...

                      But I find many things in the new testament of the Bible a good ethic. And I would offer my life for you, so you could practice your faith...

                              I was saying that the muslims would argue that the Quaran was inspired by Allah.

                              Personally, I see Jahve, Jesus, Allah, Mohammed, Buddha and all the other Gods and prophets as the same. There is NO chanse that the Bible have been proven.

                              But - we all live in a free western society, so we (different from the muslims) can choose to belive anything we want, regardless of how stupid it sounds...
