Following Dr Pendergast's link to this on another thread, I used his explanation and the ridiculous map in the first post as a teaching aid this afternoon. My students are a group of 7- to 9-year-olds whose parents send them here to learn English (and for the discipline they fail to provide at home).

Most of them sat slack-jawed as usual but one, 7-year-old Maria (she prefers to be called Mary in English class), IMMEDIATELY laughed out loud and said: "But the chart she is silly. If true, the Australia she must to turn because she in the contrary way. "

We are in absolute disagreement with your assertion that one person can have a different truth than another. X can be true of one person and not of another, but it cannot be true for one and not another. Truth can be believed by or known by one and not another. Perhaps this is just a semantic disagreement, but your semantic error makes you unintelligible.

I wasn't trying to trick you with wordplay, and I'm not being obtuse. If, for example, God doesn't exist, that is truth, whether I acknowledge it or not. If He exists, that is truth, whether you acknowledge it or not. You seem to be using truth as a synonym for belief or opinion. Fact is the stronger word, but facts are true.

As humanists, we use facts, evidence etc to assert what's true, and in the absence we use logic, and take guidance from past examples, what we don't do, is take it on face value from an untraceable, unknown, unreliable, 2000 year old source, and then base our entire lives on it, That's illogical to me

Although I am fundamentally against your views, especially the beating of women, and your views on other races and religions, I understand that as adults this is a lifestyle that has been chosen by the individual which negates the argument of of sadism, it racism.
I have learnt a lot, that I think has made me a more understanding person, to views that I may not understand or indeed agree, with but are accepted as the truth to the person believing it.
