By all means use this to teach your children. They need to know the truth. I'm sure when you've finished homeschooling them, they'll know more about agriculture than any secular farmer.

Sadly, they thwart the LORD's attempts by imposing alcoholism on the developing brain. This is why they're all Catholic - free wine during every Mass.Originally posted by Ezekiel Bathfire View PostI cannot help thinking that whilst God may have forgiven True Christians™, He has yet to succeed in finding a way of teaching Beaners the same lessons.

Dr. Pendergast, once again this is a most informative explanation. I hope you don't mind if I incorporate this into our homeschooling geography lessons next month. The children will be studying the effects of sin on agriculture and farming around the world.

Re: A refutation of secular horticulture
Do you know? You are quiet correct. This is something that has passed me by as I have some Messiacan'ts do stuff in my garden, and so, as a consequence, weeds don't bother me personally as it were.
They obviously bother the Beaners however as they are always complaining that they need gloves, tools, etc. (I never provide them because all they would do is sell them and ask for more.)
The Messicant's lot in life has been ordained by God and I cannot help thinking that whilst God may have forgiven True Christians(tm), He has yet to succeed in finding a way of teaching Beaners the same lessons.

A refutation of secular horticulture
Did you know there is no such thing as a theistic horticulturalist? Like evolution, secular horticulture and agriculture cannot be reconciled with the Bible. In Genesis 3, for example, when Adam ate the forbidden fruit, God not only cursed Adam but also, quite justifiably, the very ground from which He had created him (Gen 2:7), so that it would bring forth weeds and thorns.
Gen 3:17-19
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Weeds are a result of the Fall. The Garden of Eden was weed-free. But secular horticulturalists would have us believe that “weed” is a relative term. It’s a word for any plant that grows where you don’t want it. They want us to believe they’ve always been around and are sometimes useful to humans – just because some witch doctors use some weeds, such as dandelions, for medicinal purposes. Yet the Bible tells us weeds exist for the sole purpose of making our lives miserable.
This is why we should never use herbicides, just as women should never take analgesics during labour. I make my children do the weeding by hand. As they scratch their arms weeding between the roses and under the bougainvillea, they remember that this is the consequence of their great-great-great, etc. grandfather eating a piece of fruit.
Furthermore, agriculturalists would have us believe grains were developed from wild grasses which we would now consider weeds. But Abel apparently grew wheat, or some sort of cereal (Gen 4:2). There is no mention that he had to selectively breed grasses for centuries. He just grew his crop. Clearly, cereals already existed in their present form. God made wild grasses after the Fall as a constant reminder of what Adam had done.
Thorns are another reminder of Adam’s sin. We Christians have an explanation as to why roses have thorns: God put them there because Adam sinned. Evolutionists, however, have no explanation as to why seaweed decided to grow on land and sprout red flowers and thorns. And what good is half a thorn? Thorns were created whole, to scratch man’s arms as he tilled the earth.
Weeds and thorns are either a curse from God or plants that have always been around in one form or other that sometimes interfere with modern human activity such as gardening or farming. There is no middle ground. The Christian must side with the Bible and reject the evils of horticulture.
