Oh God...Melissa...yeah, I know her.
As you know, prior to moving to Freehold and accepting the senior pastor position here at Landover Baptist Church, I ran my church and ministry out of Orange County, California. As such, I was very familiar with the community there, including her husband, Dr. Gene Scott who lived in Pasadena at the time.
Gene was a false Christian through and through. He wasn't in this to save souls, he was here to preach a fluffy-bunny version of Christianity and make as much money as possible.
While other pastors denounce homosexuality, abortion, adultery, profanity and drinking, Scott refuses to condemn such behavior. He leaves worshipers free to make their own choice without coercion. "I don't ask you to change when you come here," he instructs the congregation. "I take you as you are, as God takes me as I am."
In response he went after me and my good friends Jerry Falwell and Jimmy Swaggart. The jerk pulled no punches...
"I'm not selling forty-pound Bibles, or water from Jordan, or 4,000 plastic crosses made by the Japanese and sold to Arabs. I don't send out 'healing cloths' (A reference to my healing cloths I was selling on the air at the time) or tear up my shirt. I say: what's what I've done worth? Whatever the meal I've fed you is worth, pay up. I'm not trying to save anybody. (Then why are you a Christian, Gene?!?!?) I think if you reject Christianity, you should do it intelligently. (No one should reject Christianity. There is no reason to do so!)"
She then started saying how she liked older men and made sexual advances towards me. Needless to say, I rejected her outright. There is no way an upright Man of God such as myself would be tempted by such a sleazy harlot, even if she was quite beautiful and I had her in a hotel room to myself. I kicked her out of my suite and read the Bible for the rest of the night.
After his death, she continued his legacy by becoming a pastor! I met Melissa many times since then, trying to convince her that she is following the path of the Devil. A woman shouldn't be preaching, she should be at home making babies and pies. We would always rendevous at my suite at my Biltmore, and by morning, I was all worn out trying to drill the Word of the Lord into her stubborn, female mind.
I tried, Lord, oh how I tried. She refuses to listen. Now she is out there, preaching a false Word, suckering in people and taking their paychecks. She gives us televangelists a bad name and that wanton whore just makes me sick to my stomach.
