How does one come to the conclusion that the earth is 6000 or 10000 years of age?

I'd assume from piles upon piles of fossil evidence and carbon dating.

I consider myself a Christian, and I do believe our Lord created the earth and heavens, but I created an account on this forum because frankly, I'm getting a little tired of my fellow worshippers who feel so arrogant as to declare something as "absolute truth" because a book and Sunday services tell them as such.

I choose to worship our Lord the way that seems logical. Our "interpretations" of the Bible can very well be askewed from what really may be real. For all we know, God created us in image, but only after intense experimenting over millions of years. After all, as most Christians can agree, he has been around since eternity.

I think the concept of evolution, under our Lord's watchful eye, is a very real possibility. But I don't know for certain, and I won't judge others (or feverishly inform them that God will judge them) for believing otherwise.

Because after all, isn't this America? Where our citizens are free to believe whatever they want to believe, as long as it does not interfere with the workings of the state? Let us not judge our fellow man for simply going off on a limb and seeking other possibilities of our origins.

Yes, I'm sure a guy convinced he is a real vampire is totally the one to question anyone else's sense of reality. And as usual the "truth" equates to whatever "theory of the month" secular science is backing today. That is, until it is proven wrong and they jump to the newest theory. Truth is eternal, not whimisical.

The Bible's history is a factual account, written by people who were there, of all that has happened since creation. Anything else is just speculation.

That is THE problem with the scientists. They are so obsessed with their "truth" that if you debunk one evidence of their theory, they just totally ignore the fact that they were once wrong and just find a new evidence. How can you believe in any theory if scientists have been proven wrong so many times in history?

Amen, friend. You said it all right there. I would only like to add that the global scientific community is either incompetent, or conspiratorial. Two seals and a handful of bark is more than sufficient to disprove the whole body of carbon 14 "evidence". For science to ignore these three counter examples, and continually point to the countless other experiments they have performed, not to mention other dating methods, proves that they are clouded by bias and faith far more than any Christian.

All of their empirical evidence, observation, applied and pure research, statistical analysis, peer review... in the end it adds up to nothing but theories.

Their real motivation is not a desire for knowledge, but a hatred for God. They resent Him because He will not allow their anal sex to go unpunished.

Carbon-14 was pretty much the glue holding the entirety of old earth and evolution theory together. We can confidently dismiss everything these so-called "men of science" have been claiming as well as their supposed evidence. And dispite all the insurmountable evidence against that sissy Dawkins fellow I bet atheist and their ilk will comtinue to worship him. The self deception and mental gymnastics these people have to go through to convince themselves of the reality of their man-made modern fairy tales is beyond ridiculous. It's quite sad really.

Great video. The part about Carbon 14 especially. Apologist have been stating how inaccurate Carbon 14 dating is when dealing with millions of years. Creationist would like to see evolutionists apply this method to items believed to be millions of years old. The video showed how the dried carcass of a seal that had been dead 30 years, when tested with carbon 14, gave a date of being dead 4600 years. A seal that had recetly died, gave an age of death of 1300 years. The bark of a living tree gave an age of being dead 10000 years.

Likewise an interesting article was written by ApologeticsPress: In June of 1990, Hugh Miller submitted two dinosaur bone fragments to the Department of Geosciences at the University in Tucson, Arizona for carbon-14 analysis. One fragment was from an unidentified dinosaur. The other was from an Allosaurus excavated by James Hall near Grand Junction, Colorado in 1989. Miller submitted the samples without disclosing the identity of the bones. (Had the scientists known the samples actually were from dinosaurs, they would not have bothered dating them, since it is assumed dinosaurs lived millions of years ago—outside the limits of radiocarbon dating.) Interestingly, the C-14 analysis indicated that the bones were from 10,000-16,000 years old—a far cry from their alleged 60-million-year-old age (see Dahmer, et al., 1990, pp. 371-374).
