      I think you mean The Castle of Otranto, that was the start of the gothic literature movement, not the gothic subculture. The gothic subculture evolved from the punk subculture. Get your facts right.

        I am still trying to get how this all comes from Alric the Goth. I just never pictured the barbarians who sacked Rome in mime make up, smoking clove cigarettes and complaining about how terrible the world is.

            Twentieth century popular music also drew on Gothic themes, eventually resulting in gothic rock and the goth subculture surrounding it.
            English writers like Byron and Shelley knew they could never get normal society to accept Red queers like themselves unless they completely destroyed all morality and Christianity, so they set about writing vile goff pornography like Interview With The Vampire. Then, later generations of goth children like Marilyn Manson realised they were no longer literate enough to write books, so they just had to settle for undermining Christianity by painting themselves up like French mimes and shooting schoolchildren. And that's how it happened.

              Sheesh, Interview With The Vampire was written by Anne Rice, over a century after Byron and Shelley were alive. There are plenty of writers of gothic literature nowadays, ever heard of Neil Gaiman or Storm Constantine?

                  That's about as useless as information comes these days. Go do something useful with your time like memorizing Leviticus or something.

                    I am doing something useful. Currently writing up an essay for my Psychology class at school.
