Haha, you are so amazingly stupid. Why would God write about thumb-sucking? It's something that small children and babies do, if you don't want her sucking on her thumb get her a pacifier!
Babies have a natural urge to suck. This urge usually decreases after the age of 6 months. But many babies continue to suck their thumbs to soothe themselves. Thumb-sucking can become a habit in babies and young children who use it to comfort themselves when they feel hungry, afraid, restless, quiet, sleepy, or bored.
In rare cases, thumb-sucking after age 5 is in response to an emotional problem or other disorder, such as anxiety.

Sadly, Mr. McIrish is still turning a blind eye to his daughter's evil, lustful thumbsucking. But I think I may have found a solution!

My poor, deluded husband won't remove his girlchild's sinful digits, and I simply cannot approve of those whorish, namby-pamby "please stop sucking your thumb" gloves. I have spent hours upon hours in my prayer closet (with Mr. McIrish's stockpile of Jameson bottles), beseeching the for an answer. And lo, He is faithful!

I was perusing an estate sale here in Lynchburg over the weekend when I came across an interesting device hidden amongst all the antiques and old tools. When I laid my hand upon this odd contraption, I felt the Holy Spirit move me and I knew I must buy it.

After bringing it home and doing some research, I believe I may have purchased a thumb screw, which was used in medieval times to coax truth and confessions from heathens and heretics. Praise GOD for His Divine Inspiration! Not bad for fifty cents!

The picture below suggests how the device operates. Brothers and Sisters, what do you think? Is it possible to "screw" this girlchild to Salvation?

I completely forgot, have you tried aversion therapy? Application of a mild to moderate hot sauce like Dave's Gourmet Insanity Sauce to the thumbs might help. If that doesn't work you could bump it up to the moderate to hot Dave's Ghost Pepper Sauce.

The former tends to work on Texas toddlers, while the latter will deter even a 4 year old Texas child from sucking their thumb. Their natural tolerance kicks in past that age, leaving amputation as the most common deterrent.

Have you tried aversion therapy?

I've considered coating the girlchild's thumb in blood to discourage the behavior (Exodus 29:20), but the brats are with their heathen mother most of the time who barely manages to keep them alive, let alone mete out Godly discipline. So I fear any aversion technique will be ineffective due to lack of consistency.

All in all, I am hoping Mr. McIrish agrees that the thumb screw is a good compromise, since apparently he frowns upon amputation in order to save the little harlot's soul (if she even has one).

I am living proof that my parents hesitation to cut off my thumbs when they should have led me into a life a sin. Like Mr. McIrish, my parents felt that I would grow out of it. Instead, I grew into it!

You still have time to save this girlchild, should she have a soul. She will adapt without her thumbs (yes, by now they both need to go), as she is still young. God could still show her favor in her life ahead, but it's up to you to keep her from the sin she will no doubt fall into!

Yes, you can use such devices on other body parts. It is sometimes employed to treat gayness in theopsychology. In fact we even have a name for this treatment, CBT.

CBT is sometimes employed by amateur female therapists, self titled mistresses, who assume a position of authority in an effort to un-gay their patient. We professional theopsychologists recognize the fallacy in this, as when performed by a woman, cognitive behavioral therapy tends to reinforce sissy-like behavior patterns rather than decreasing them.

I've said time and again that female therapists should only work with female patients, and only under the direct supervision of a male therapist. Both scripture and the body of empirical evidence supports this position.
