Marcelino de Jesus Martinez of Greenfield, California was arrested yesterday for allegedly selling his 14 year old daughter into marriage to an 18 year old man, Margarito de Jesus Galindol, for $16,000, 160 cases of beer, 100 cases of soda, 50 cases of Gatorade, two cases of wine, and six cases of meat.
This is completely outrageous, and deserves the condemnation of every True Christian™ from coast to coast. A man's relationship with his daughter is a sacred thing, so where does the California police state get off persecuting this godly man for arranging a marriage for his daughter on what I think we all must agree are very favorable terms? The Bible is crystal clear on this, a daughter is the property of her father. Consider, for example, Exodus 21:7:
And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.
If a man can sell his daughter into slavery, then surely he can sell her into marriage, which is a far more desirable state of being! We see the same principle in Deuteronomy 22:28-29:
If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife....
Clearly we see from the fact that that a rapist must buy the raped daughter from her father, that she is, in fact, the fathers property. And, lest anyone think this is simply an Old Testament rule, remember that, in Genesis 19:8, Lot offered his virgin daughters to men who had come to rape Lot's male houseguests, and the New Testament tells us that Lot was a righteous man:
And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) 2 Peter 2:7-8
In the long run, the only way to put an end to this unconstitional and unbiblical governmental meddling in places where it does not belong, such as the bridal chambers of 14 year old girls, is to support Evangelical candidates for office such as Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. But, until the day comes when Sister Sarah sweeps the liberals out of the Oval Office, we are going to use the courts to fight this unfair state intrusion into our private lives in the courts.
I hope that all persons who revere Jesus and the Bible will unite behind the Landover Christian University Law School Anti-Christian Persecution Task Force as we move to defend this man for exercising his God given right to sell his daughter's maidenhead to the highest bidder willing to take her as a wife.
