Re: Convert me.
Oh please, get out of here. This is the LAST place you want explaining christianity to you. Beating wives? I could not read the rest of your post after seeing that. Go to a local church.Originally posted by Mr.Russell View PostMy name is Mr. Russell. I am not christian.
I've been looking around this forum and most of it is not making any sense to me. I've noticed that many of you beat your wives? How on earth is that Christian? Do you feel the need to control her, or do you feel the need to display power? If you love her enough to marry her, why cause her physical pain? I don't see logic in that at all!
I'm trying my very best not to cause offence to anyone, i am simply trying to have some questions answered rationally. I have noticed that some of you agree with me and my points I am to raise, so this message does not apply to all that use this forum, so apologies to those whom take offence.
Many of you show archaic discrimination that I find shocking. Especially towards those with Special Needs, Homosexuals, etc. You are born Homosexual and you are born with Special Needs. If 'god' is 'all loving' then why would he punish someone, why not treat them as a fellow human?
I also do not understand how hypocritical some of you come accross as. Someone here mentioned that anyone of any other religion is 'scum'. That is pure racism. Again, if 'god' loves everyone, created humans in his own image and gave man free will, then why do you have the right to hate and discriminate those who have used their free will to chose their own religion?
Back to the wife beating point, I cannot begin justify this at all! If your wife was distrusting of you and she decided to paddle you, lock you in the house or have 100% of every aspect of your life, please tell me what your reaction would be? Would you 'let' her? To me, some people on this forum seem extremely sexist.
Not only sexist, but racist, discriminative, and prejudice. To those it may concern, I am not saying this in reference to everyone on this forum, or for that fact all christians, but to me, it does seem a majority of people on this forum are hypocritical of themselves and do not seem to stand for christian morals anymore.
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Mr. Russell.

Dear Bertrand Russell Wannabe:
I will do my best, being a mere female, to answer your questions.
Many women require discipline. If you read the Bible, you'd know that God commands Christian men to keep their wives in subjection. It is perfectly Christian to administer discipline on an as-needed basis. That is not the same as beating and kicking your woman because you had a bad day at work.Originally posted by Mr.Russell View PostMy name is Mr. Russell. I am not christian.

You have clearly confused "Christian" with "modern liberal". Not to worry, many people do.
Thank you for your politeness.I'm trying my very best not to cause offence to anyone, i am simply trying to have some questions answered rationally. Actually, the APA has recently revised its stance and recognized that there is no compelling evidence that homosexuality is "inbred" or "genetic". As for "special needs", I assume you mean the retardeds. They are the result of fornication with a demon, or the sins of a parent. Many of you show archaic discrimination that I find shocking. Especially towards those with Special Needs, Homosexuals, etc. You are born Homosexual and you are born with Special Needs. Where did you get this idea that God loves everyone? This is your first error, albeit a very common one. (I don't hold it against you.)I also do not understand how hypocritical some of you come accross as. Someone here mentioned that anyone of any other religion is 'scum'. That is pure racism. Again, if 'god' loves everyone, created humans in his own image and gave man free will, then why do you have the right to hate and discriminate those who have used their free will to chose their own religion?
God loves those who love Him. Those who ignore His laws, those who refuse His gift of Salvation, all will be resurrected from the dead and cast into the Lake of Fire (Hell) to be tortured for all eternity.
I sure hope that isn't what you consider "love"!
The Bible is clear on what's appropriate and what's not. You are making the mistake of comparing God's Law with "modern society" and its liberal values. I'm sorry, but they are not compatible.Back to the wife beating point, I cannot begin justify this at all! You are not a Christian, and it is clear you have never read the Bible. How can you tell us what Christian morals are?Not only sexist, but racist, discriminative, and prejudice. Mr. Russell, I strongly suggest you take the time to read the Bible. You will note that there is a "Bible in a Year" section on this very forum to help you.
Doing this will help you to understand the difference between Biblically-correct Christianity, and the common "false Christianity" prevalent in the "prosperity gospel" and other perversions.
I'm sorry that you've been turned from Jesus by the lies of greedy Father Feelgood types, who only want you to show up next Sunday and put more green in the plate. Maybe we can help you back to Him!

Re: Convert me.
Seriously, I keep accusing you of being simple minded and you may see this as an insult - it is a genuine question, I mean how can anyone translate 1st Corinthians 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: as meaning only "in church"?Originally posted by Mr.Russell View PostOkay, that's in a church. What about the rest of the entire world?
God told women that this is the case for a reason: Imagine a husband says, "We should return to the Gold Standard" and the wife replied, "Mr Merryweather told me that the Gold Standard is a bad idea."... can you imagine what discord this would sow? But if she replied, "yes, would you like more pie darling?" Can you not see how this leads to a happy and contented marriage?
No wonder there are so many divorces!
Honestly, I ask you to consider your question yourself before asking something, I am used to instructing people over 18, not children.

Re: Convert me.
I agree 100% with your point here: EVERYONE in the world, men and women, should read the 1611 King James Bible cover-to-cover. After all, that is what we are doing right now with unsaved trash like you: Describing a whole book to you. I really recommend you go out and read it yourselves.Originally posted by Mr.Russell View PostEuthinasia is still a crime, it's still murder. Just because someone aggrees to be murdered doesn't stop it being murder. And why should a wife have be told aobut life as opposed to experiencing it herself, isn't this unfair and sexist? It's like wanting to read the best book in the world, (I assume you will interperate that as the bible), but being denied and allowed only to be told about it. Can someone really describe a whole book to someone? Shouldn't they be allowed to read it for themselves?
Excellent post, my friend. It is good that you are turning around and starting to agree with us!

Re: Convert me.
You are the one trying to keep them from enjoying life, ETERNAL life that is!
1 Timothy 2:9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Re: Convert me.
The legal position here is that although a person who is beaten is asked if they want to press charges, a dead person will have difficulties answering the question - therefore the state intervenes and assumes that they did not want to be dead - although this is not always so.Originally posted by Mr.Russell View PostEuthinasia is still a crime, it's still murder. 1st Corinthians 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
1st Corinthians 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

There's something wrong with youWhy would a wife want to do that? If she wants to know about life, she should ask her husbandOriginally posted by Mr.Russell View PostBut don't you ever want your Husband to do your duties while you go out and experience life?I think the lady has already said she is her husband's possessionDon't you want to be seen and treatest as a person, not as an object, a possessions or a reward?I think the point you miss is that if the person beaten sees that it is for her own good, there is unlikely to be a court case, is there? And beatings are just another word for domestic abuse, there are many charities dedicated to stopping this, people get put in prison for beating their wives.Dear me, you are filled with emotive words, as if they will win the argument against God.Should Christians really commit domestic abuse and get away with it?

Re: Convert me.
Well Mr Russel, I can only answer what I know about and what I know about are my "wifely duties". I'll leave the rest up to our knowledgeable men folk. I am my husbands possession. Do you understand that the Lord gave me as a gift to Brand? If I shirk my wifely duties, what else can he do but beat me? It makes me a better woman and he certainly gets much pleasure from the beating. Everyone is happy!Originally posted by Mr.Russell View PostMy name is Mr. Russell. I am not christian.

Re: Convert me.
Dear friend,Originally posted by Mr.Russell View PostThanks you Brother V for your reply and good manners,
I am familiar with the Amazon Women and their culture, but they aren't christians,
You are right in saying thst discrimination is not archaic, my apologies. But if christianity is the 'best' religoin, as stated by many on this forum, then shouldn't you set examples, as christians, by being more tolerant whch in turn could convert more people, perhaps such as myself, to christianity?
And i do not see punishment as nessecary in all cases. If my children misbehave, I talk to them. I don't need to punish them,
Thank you,
Mr. Russell.
Of course Amazon women aren't Christians, True Christian (tm) women know their place, and it's not on the battle ground, it's in the kitchen, and/or making new Soldiers for Christ (r).
Tolerant is not a word that I can find in my Bible (KJV1611). Friend, you are trying to shape God around your will, it is you that must contort to what God wants. God will not tolerate your sin. Do you get to pick and choose which of man's laws that you get to follow? Do you think the speed limit doesn't apply to you? Do you think that seat belt laws don't apply? Do you think your children don't always have to be in car seats? Do you think you can do whatever illegal drugs you want? Friend, we are not the people who create the laws, we MUST follow them. Like a human police officer, God may let you off with just a warning ticket, but even when the cop gives you the warning, it's still given (most likely) because you made a promise to the cop to not drive so fast, and you cried like a little girl. God will let you off with a warning, but you have to promise to change your ways.
Same as with your kids. How many times do you have to tell them that it's not ok to play with your collection of Hummel figurines, before they stop? Will you sit down and talk with them about it once? twice? how many times do you talk with children before you need to let them know you mean business?
How will the kids ever know that you do mean business if all that ever happens to them is daddy sits down and tells them they did wrong? HOW MANY HUMMEL'S MUST BE BROKE BEFORE THE CHILD GET'S SPANKED?
Only when the child knows that there are REAL, ACTUAL consequences to their actions, will a child stop their bad behavior.
The same is with you, as a child of God. You may get lucky, and God will just sit you down and let you know that what you did was wrong, other times, He'll kill you on the spot, with no explanation (like Onan) .
Friend, God's Law is easy to follow. You just do it. God will not put up with civic unrest, like Iran is having now. Following God is not a popular election. God doesn't get to be voted off the island. You either choose to follow it 100%, or you don't follow it at all. There is no middle ground of what you would like it to be.
Hope this helps,
YIC
V

Re: Convert me.
I never meant to imply that the bible said to hate other religions, my apologies! But it seems thats the way some people on this forum think.
I see your point with homosexualism, but does this mean a christian husband and wife only have sex purely for reproduction? Because to me it either seems like Christians are homophobic if they allow a man and woman to have sex for pleasure, but not two men. Or, they should be nothing against homosexuals in the bible at all, as if a christian husband and wife only have sex to reproduce, the two men would not need to have sex. And homosexual sex seems to be the issue here.
Mr. Russell.
