There is an AME church in Indianapolis, but I haven't researched it. It's not an anti-Christian cult of some sort, is it? This HoMo'Kelly lesbian thinks it is.
Why we would be glad to join you for services. Thank you very much for the invitation! I'm not sure why my grandsons would be uncomfortable sharing worship with plumbing customers. They go to church every week with some of their customers. Most of their customers attend St. Peter's Episcopal church over in Walterboro.

Let me assure you. A.M.E. is no cult. A is for African. M is for Methodist on which our mainstream Protestant beliefs are based. E is for Episcopal which is how the church organization is structured.

I do not know who Mo'Kelly is, and after viewing your link I'm sure I have no desire to meet him.

Upon seeing these glowing testimonials, I had hoped that these fine, upstanding young men of yours could pay a visit to North Salem. I have so desperate a need for expert pipe-laying, and can't find a single capable gentleman in town!

If they could see their way clear to heading up for a week or so, I could happily put them to work all over the church, snaking drains and laying pipe as needed. If they have time, they could give my rectory a thorough working-over, as well!

Several members of my congregation have also commented on a need for some skilled plumbers; the ladies often say that their husbands don't even have the basic tools for the job, and some of the gentlemen -- both married and single -- have pointed out that they have needs, as well. So, if Hot Rod and Iron Bone wanted to spend a good part of the summer in North Salem laying pipe, I'm sure they'd be welcomed with open arms!

It'd be a great way for them to save cash for college.
What a generous offer Reverand Rodimer! I'll mention it to the boys. I'm sure their parents will have some input into the decision. My own feeling is that they are a bit too young to venture all the way to Indiana on their own. They are after all, only 18 and 17. However, they could use some extra money for college.

Perhaps if my wife Flossie and I were to accompany them on this adventure, their parents, my daughter and son in law, will allow them to go.

Is there an A.M.E Church in North Salem where Flossie, Iron Bone, Hot Tod and myself will find fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Jesus?

You are so right, Brother Washington, I did, indeed, mis-type the title. I have a diagnosed case of finger dyslexia and have to be extremely careful when tippling typing.

    Forgive me.

In his book, Brother Washington clearly identified his late father as Abner J. (Ham Bone) Washington. Not wanting to embarrass him by overtly sharing my admiration of him and his struggles to attain our whiteness levels in a public forum, I chose instead to use "code words" to indicate I had read his inspring story.

Now that I've revealed to all Brother Washington's ability to put his inspiring autobiography in print, I suggest you visit Barnes and Noble to search for the book.

And please stay away for the children's reading room.

Bethany and Brand Covington will probably be discussing your grandson's skills for years to come. Their daughters, having experienced Hot Rod and Iron Bone first hand, as it were, will probably shun any local wannabe pipe layers for the rest of their lives.

Any plumbing in the long term future will most likely be on the side. Iron Bone will be off to Clemson University this fall. He plans on majoring in Civil Engineering. Hot Rod has one more year of high school left. His grades are excellent and he hopes to attend Duke University. Hopefully he'll get that football scholarship!

It is interesting that you mention Ham. My father was the late Abner J. (Ham Bone) Washington, a Colleton County farmer of considerable fame, so you could say that everyone in the family is a descendant of Ham!

started a topic Back from Freehold

    Back from Freehold

Well I must say my grandsons and I surely did enjoy our trip to Freehold Iowa and the Landover Baptist Church. We were privileged to be hosted by Bethany and Brand Covington. The move in was a success. My grandsons Hot Rod and Iron bone did all the heavy lifting. They sure are fine strong young men.
The Covingtons had some plumbing problems and the boys were there to help. Hot Rod and Iron Bone laid pipe for Miss Bethany and her daughters Jessica and Allison. The three of them were so pleased with my grandsons efforts that they asked them to do some more plumbing while Brand watched. Hopefully Brand is better at laying pipe for the experience of watching Hot Rod and Iron bone help his wife and daughters.
It was good to meet all of you. We had such a fine time that we are planning to visit next year!
