  • "The Last Shall Be First" Does Not Mean the Poor Get a Break

I'm sure others who work at making Landover Baptist bigger and wealthier have had the same problem I have had recruiting wealthy white people. Some who are really wealthy say, "You Bible-reading Baptists don't like us rich people. You claim we rich come in last. We don't want to join a church of poor people. They are losers."

It takes some patience to explain this Bible passage does not mean the poor have a higher Christian status than the rich. We Real Christianstm know the rich are better than the poor. The passage, Matthew 19:30, is talking about old fake gods the cavemen had which they thought were first. The Christian God came along and kicked out the fake gods. God is now first.

Matthew 19:30 is especially sensitive just now because our President wants his wealth to be admired. His cabinet members are wealthy like he is. These wealthy people are first, not last. We best remember to explain the wealthy are considered to be in first place at Landover Baptist.
