Most likely those additional votes were mail in votes with post marks prior to the poll closing. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to walk in and vote in the Crystal Cathedrals Voting annex. Some of us live out of state (and country in some cases) and the mail takes time.

And none of those people voted for Jimmy? I find that hard to believe.

One thing is strange, I recall Pastor Ezekiel having 157 or 159 votes, when the voting was closed, now he has 417.. Is God secretly at work, telling us we must venerate men of the Spirit above men of the world, that even the most devout and godly business man, of whatever stand, is less than a Saint who works solely for the salvation of the souls of others, at any and all cost to himself (or herself?). I like that, it's a great thing, but the vote has closed and James is the winner this year. Congratulations on a well-deserved win, next year I hope maybe Cranky Old Man will get a chance to be recognized among his peers, though I suspect James will win the title most years he is in the poll. Maybe James should be prevented from running next year because he is so frequently out of Freehold on business trips? This certainly is and has been a godly competition, I hope that you will post pictures from the party and that James humbly acknowledges his unworthiness, because nothing pleases the Lord more than our humility.

I take a short business trip to by a Scotch distillery, single malt, and this happens. I am but a simple business man trying to eek out a living and serve God at the same time, why does life have to be so darn complicated.

I guess I will sell the darn thing, afterall I bought it with a certian Pastor in mind.

Now, I love Brother Dewitt like a brother, but I am a bit confused by the polling numbers. I know Deloitte Touche verified the numbers and do not understand the disparity. I put a call into Sam Diamond but his secretary told me he was in Scotland and would not be back until Thursday.

Report to Citizens, Freehold Man of the Year Inquiry

The staff at Freehold City Hall has completed its investigative work into the seemingly peculiar end of the polling the Freehold Man of the Year.

Findings:

1. The rules for the Freehold Man of Event were adequate, had the event been entirely secular. It turned out that the event may not have been entirely secular.

2. Campaigning for the title was ethical, given that there had been an oversight in drafting the rules.

3. The peculiar polling numbers right at the end of the polling period remains a mystery, increasing the likelihood that some manner of devine intervention took place.

CONCLUSION: The Mayor should have consulted a "higher power" before drafting the contest rules. For this oversight he extends his sincere apologies.

Freehold Man of the Year Results:

1. Mr. James Dewitt won the popular vote and is thus the people's choice for Freehold Man of the Year.

2. Pastor Zeke receives the title: God's Freehold Man of the Year. Pastor Zeke has received this title because he was not a candidate, yet received the most votes. There is only one explanation for this miraculous turn of events, divine intervention. It is clear that he is God's favorite for Freehold Man of the Year. God wanted Mr. DeWitt, on the other hand, to be choosen by the public.

This concludes the 2010 Freehold Man of the Year event.
