Didn't Jesus Relly Just Stub His Toe For Us?

Hello all! Your friendly neighborhood atehist here again with another question. I appreciate all of your help as I try to understand your model of the universe and how it works! My question/thoughts are as follows:

The CORE of Chrsitianity is the concept that Jesus/God so loved us that he made a HUGE sacrifice by dying for our sins. He knew that it would happen that he would be resurected and live forever. (see Mark 8:31 or John 10:17-18 ). He apparently he even told other people about it (see Matthew 27:63 ).

Given all of this, I ask you: Didn't Jesus do the equivilent of "stubbing his toe for our sins?" What is three days of torture and a temporary death compared to eternity as God?

To those who say he did something special, something no one else would do, then I ask you, "Wouldn't ANYONE do what he did?" Think about it. If you knew that you could be tortured for three days and "die" only to be resurected and live forever as a God and thereby ALSO save every living being from suffering forever, wouldn't YOU do it too? If not, why not? If yes, then why is what Jesus did so special?

    I appreciate your feedback.

PS: This completely ignores the fact that God created the scenario in which we needed to be saved in the first place. God has created a situation akin to pushing everyone into a body of water and then holding up a life vest in front of their eyes. "You can all save yourselves if you will just accept my gift. Otherwise you will drown." He has created the situation of peril, and then demands your love in order to be saved from eternal torture HE created. But that is a seperate issue, I suppose.

Correct. I see that you are drinking in God’s Word in preparation for a sudden “On the Road to Damascus” moment. I do approve of atheists burying their heads in the KJV1611.
Given all of this, I ask you: Didn't Jesus do the equivalent of "stubbing his toe for our sins?" What is three days of torture and a temporary death compared to eternity as God?
I might ask you, “What is a lifetime of hating God gotten you?” But I won’t.

You will see throughout the OT the numerous animal sacrifices to God, goodness me! There are even recipes for this. And eventually God tires of these.

Heb:10:1: For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb:10:2: For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
Heb:10:3: But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
Heb:10:4: For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Heb:10:5: Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
Heb:10:6: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

So here we see God pulling a PRO job of Biblical Proportions one that the popular media will run as headlines for eternity – the final sacrifice – His Son (who is part of Him.)

Now you know that crucifixion (a) hurts and (b) is fatal but it is therefore necessary to go through with this – stubbing the toes is not going to cut the mustard. Yes, it’s a nasty job but someone has to do it.
If you knew that you could be tortured for three days and "die" only to be resurrected and live forever as a God and thereby ALSO save every living being from suffering forever, wouldn't YOU do it too?
But this is the whole point!!! Prior to the crucifixion, people did not KNOW that you could come back from being dead (well, except those few who saw Jesus raise people who were dead and they probably died peacefully in their sleep.)
PS: This completely ignores the fact that God created the scenario in which we needed to be saved in the first place.
    No. Eve did that.
God has created a situation akin to pushing everyone into a body of water and then holding up a life vest in front of their eyes. "You can all save yourselves if you will just accept my gift. Otherwise you will drown." He has created the situation of peril, and then demands your love in order to be saved from eternal torture HE created. But that is a separate issue, I suppose.
You are amazing in your anger – it clouds your mind. Mankind has been shown in Eden and before the flood to be reprobate. Even after the Flood, we continued to be unworthy of His Magnificent Love. (So unworthy that He killed off millions of others) And yet… and yet.. all He now asks is a few moments of your time and an undying trust in the absolute inerrancy of His Word and a few simple rules and deep study of His Word and a hope that you are not amongst those destined to Hell from their birth.

Now! I have spent a long time with you. I do not expect gratitude. I do feel that you will persistently object to God’s ways, thinking yours superior. Yet did not Jesus say that the dripping of water will wear away rock?

I don't see anyone else temporarily dying on the cross for my sins. Only Jesus did that!

Can you imagine what our lives would be like right now if Jesus hadn't?

        No.
A random picked “Joe the Sinner” (like you) could not have sacrificed himself for the world.

As a sinner (like you) are rightfully worthy of death, your death wouldn’t change anything.

        Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus was on the other hand without sin.

        II Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

The joos had to offer lambs without any blemish at various occasions (as you can read in the Old Testament – Leviticus 23:12, Numbers 28:9 are two examples).

        Jesus was such lamb.

        John 1:29
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

The Prophets had for seen this.

        Isaiah 53:7
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

        This takes us back to Romans 6:23;

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

        Why do you hate Jesus?
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
        John 8:32

Pinky--The Jesus death made a profound point that seems to be lost on you. Jesus died for our sins, Satan did not.

Thus, Jesus loves you. Satan does not. Are you getting this?
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

I'm disgusted that someone could compare being hung by nails in your hands until you were too weak to breathe and suffocated under the weight of your own body to "stubbing your toe". How heartless can you be?

Perhaps you should read this, it explains what a horrible death crucifixion really is

Thanks for your replies. They were somewhat informative. I would like to focus in on a specific question:

You would be having fun instead of being afraid of Hell all the time!

Jesus loves you seriously bigtime. He’d hug you until your eyeballs exploded out of your skull if he ever met you. He’d windsurf across oceans of dead Nazis which he personally slaughtered just to tell you that your new haircut is the bee’s knees. Jesus is like the monster truck of love and you are an old Geo Metro which he will roar his massive engine over and crush your pathetic fiberglass frame into a crumpled heap. Praise Jesus, especially when it’s sunny outside because Jesus would totally be cool with you praising while you get a nice tan.
