We're out of the dark ages, open your eyes and realize living life with your eyes behind the pages of the Good Book may cause you to run into a tree.

    Brother Sionisx2,

This is a longer than normal post, as I feel you can take in quite a lot of information at one go:

Did you see the challenge? Pastor Billy-Reuben doesn’t give away money lightly. Our knowledge was deceptively given to us by satan through the gullibility of womankind. Although the Tree of Knowledge grew in Eden, Adam was forbidden to eat of the fruit, God’s word being sufficient for immortality.

    We all know what happened.

Now we here at Landover believe that God’s Word, in its entirety (including the bits that make the novice wince) are to be followed. We also accept that nothing more is required.

Scientists who work towards a confirmation of God’s Word are doing a good job, but the point is, (a) if they prove God’s Word, they have only re-stated that which is in the Bible and we have not progressed and (b) if they state things that are contrary to the Bible, they are stating falsehoods. It is those latter scientists who would attempt to discredit God’s Word.

The difficulty is distinguishing which scientists are which. The scientists who produced Thalidomide… were they good? But imagine being there, as I was, at the time of the discovery and hearing how Thalidomide would help our womenfolk not have morning sickness.

Now God had cursed Eve and said that childbearing would be hard, and here were scientists making it easy, contrary to God’s Word.

You name me a drug, produced by scientists, that does not have side effects… it’s not possible.

To refresh you on the point I made above; you said you were going to be a police officer; a fine profession requiring understanding, self-discipline and an understanding of humanity and one where the right man can do a great deal for his fellow man… but does it require a knowledge of the Large Hadron Collider? No.

The guys who run the LHC all have PhDs – that is usually 8 years of study after they have got top marks from their school and even they don’t understand it, otherwise why all these experiments?

What chance have we of understanding it? And if we are never going to understand it, what’s the point of doing it and more to the point, how do we know if they aren’t just wasting their time?

Would the Bible help you as a police officer – why yes! The 10 Commandments are the very basis of the law.

This is why we say, the Bible (KJV) is the only guidance anyone needs.

You say that God didn't mention Computers or the Internet in the Good Book. God knows all, understands all and can see all, why would he need a computer or the Internet? Messages were usually sent by angels or directly to a prophet. In this we see a parallel in messages sent to our computers; a Godly tool, without which the Millions and Billions of the Unsaved could not come to hear the LBC.

Yeah, if the American's had built the SSC it would probably have achieved the energy levels being proposed by ATLAS. But we saved the money instead, and now it would buy about one week's worth of God's mighty war in Iraq.

Stephen Hawking once said that doing particle physics at these energies would be like looking at the scrotum hairs of God Himself. Or something like that.

    Pretty sickening.

I think I'll just shake God's hand and leave the intimate voyeurism to those with no sense of decency.

O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called; 1 Timothy 6:20

Science falsely so-called is the great bane of modern man. Our ancestors were Godly men and true, trudging around muddy fields with oxen breaking wind in their faces until they died at age 35 and went swooping up to Heaven. Those were the days! When men loved God enough to go on crusades and pogroms in His name, and dental care consisted of a crude pair of iron pliers more often employed in horse-shoeing...

But we are talking about particle physics.

What do you get when you smash two protons together at 99.999999999999% of the speed of light? Full-time jobs for fifty physicists, that's what!

At least at SLAC they got the name right.

Now, you may say that right from the early days physics has produced valuable spin-offs. I look at my television and I am looking at a device developed from the phosphor-tube detectors invented by physicist Karl Braun. And what do I see on my television? A childrens' cartoon depicting robots copulating, a graphic documentary on rectal polyps, and a reality show which somehow involves eating large pieces of pine lumber.

That IS NOT A VALUABLE SPIN-OFF! It make me wish Karl Braun had shoved that early phosphor tube somewhere unspeakable.

Anyway. Good luck to the physicists of ATLAS; I hope they create a baby singularity, inflate it, and crawl inside to take a nap.

    ~~ OEJ

Had you of noticed what I had actually quoted of you in my post, you would see that I am not disagreeing with God's word. I certainly do believe that praying can help in the healing process, but medicine also helps. Look at what I had said earlier about non believes being cured with antibiotics or other medicines, which you hadn't bothered to dispute me with.

Prove that Bacterial meningitis is treatable with antibiotics? Or that the common flu isn't curable with antibiotics? It's already been proved, about 20 years ago.

I kindly disagree with you on that sir, antibiotics are very important, they help to treat infectious diseases. Besides, if only prayer was needed for healing, how is it that non believers in Christianity are healed everyday of various illnesses?

The Bible doesn't say anything about antibiotics, because they aren't important.

Here is what the Bible has to say about healing sickness:
    James 5
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

If someone is sick, it is because he has sinned. It's not because of some bacteria. He needs prayer, not antibiotics.

If you think you can prove that bacteria cause disease, then perhaps you can earn a little money.

While I wouldn't be completely objected to France blowing up I will post pictures, as soon as I can get my hands on a scanner. Besides, who says technology can't advance?

Naturally I was intrigued, and made a little side trip to there central location (where the Large Hadron Collider is located) and after scheduling for a tour date, a week later I was back and ready for action! I'll post pictures as soon as I can get a scanner, as they're definitely worth seeing. Oh, and there wern't any problems on the tour, we went from the various control rooms to the room housing the actual Hadron Collider.
Touring? Are you perhaps Jackson Browne in disguise?

Heidelberg is evil. It was the Nazi stronghold. It harbored communists like Jürgen Habermass and Max Planck. No wonder you got all confused.

The only good thing about that city is that the US has an army base over there.

But yes, please post the pictures of this (obviously made up) "Hadron Collider". In the best of possible worlds, it will just blow up France.

Incidently, due to these large holes in the ground, the Swiss glaciers are caving in. They blame it on "Global Warming", hah!.
