  • Re: What is it like to be an atheist?

When I first found this forum, at first I thought it was a joke, kinda like the Onion for News, but then I began reading, and realized many of you were serious. I am an atheist, and I would be more than happy to dispel some of the things you are all telling each other about what atheism means.
I fully expect you to be nasty, and full of vitriol, but you will find that I am not like that at all. In fact, I am very much against that type of atheism (I know a few of them), but I will also attempt to answer any serious questions you might have, if just to help you understand what it means to be an atheist. No, I'm not here to 'de-convert' anyone, but just to present the other side.

What has always puzzled me is that if you have no morals what is to stop you raping children like those dirty priests in Rome?

      God bless.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Interestingly, the things we are "telling each other" are merely a repeat of what atheists before you have said themselves. We're not making this up, friend. I encourage you to read more and try to see our point of view with an open mind. Jesus led you here for a reason, and we'd like to welcome you s a Brother in Christ one day.

Are you absolutely sure you fail to see the irony in this statement? I know talking to you won't be easy, as delusions are beliefs in spite if evidence to the contrary, but I do pray that you will open your heart to the Truth and let go of your atheopathic deluded beliefs. I think you'll find not only can you be less nasty, but you'll be filled with joy!
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

This is an interesting question that I cannot fathom. All I can imagine is a black void where magics such as chemistry physics and mathematics are the rules... There is a family in our neighborhood who we are starting to believe are atheists since they don't come to mass. The man of the house said he was going to see a dinosaur exhibit in Raleigh and how it was fascinating "science" He is still being fooled and does not realize that these "bones" were placed to test our faith.

I bet its a hollow life. These morons think there is nothing beyond this world so they try and have as much pleasure as they can during their lives. That's why there are so many gays in this world, they don't believe in hell they just want orgasms. It reminds me of this verse Ezekiel 23:19-20 "Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt. There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses."

Well, that got me to thinking, what DO atheists believe? What is it like to be in the head of an atheist? Is there any logical thought at all or is it pure animal instinct? Does one consider things like pleasure and pain or is an atheist simply driven to eat, sleep, and have sex with the closest hole that fits a peg (or peg that fits a hole, as it were)? I'm sincerely curious and wonder how can we help you overcome these base animal instincts to be saved from an eternity of torment that is due simply for the crime of having been born human and therefor depraved.

I look forward to your replies.

If us atheists didn't exist you would still be in the dark ages dying of sickness. It wasn't until the enlightenment that people came to their senses and realized that no "god" would solve their problems and thus true science was born. Ah science, one of many things your primitive mind can't comprehend.

Nonsense. The Holy Bible already contains information about God's Creation. Man's pride has convinced him science discovered these things outside the knowledge of God. Consider the following discoveries:

Both man and woman possess the seed of life (Genesis 3:15); discovered by man in 17th century
Earth is held in place by invisible forces (Job 26:7); discovered by man in 1650
Blood is necessary for life (Leviticus 17:11); discovered by man in 19th century
Oceans have natural paths in them (Psalms 8:8); discovered by man in1854
Light is a particle and has mass (a photon) (Job 38:19); discovered by man in 1932
Stars give off signals (Job 38:7); discovered by man in 1945
Oceans contain fresh water springs (Job 38:16); discovered by man in 1920
Dust is important to survival (Isaiah 40:12); discovered by man in 1935
Hubert Spencer's scientific principles (Genesis 1); discovered by man in 1820
Air has weight (Job 28:25); discovered by man in the 16th century
Light can be split up into component colors (Job 38:24); discovered by man in 1650
Matter is made up of invisible particles (Romans 1:20); discovered by man in 20th century
Water cycle (Ecclesiastes 1:7); discovered by man in 17th century
Lightning and thunder are related (Job 38:25); discovered by man in 19th century

Hardly. It's unarguably the most influential book ever written, anywhere, in any language.

Have you read it yet? You can get a copy free at most churches, or as little as $5 at Wal-mart, or even online here. Personally, I find the beauty of the language used in the KJV to be at least interesting enough to counter the horrifying yet frequently soporific subject matter. Avoid the 1611 unless you can deal with non-standard spelling; the 1769 is better for most readers.

                          • Are catholics really atheists?

From the way catholics behave I wonder whether in fact they are all atheists? No-one who read the Word of God would ever set foot in a papist franchise — unless they believed that God did not exist and that His instructions were meaningless.

In fact, if you did believe His instructions were meaningless would that automatically suggest atheism? Say if I were a criminal who regarded the law as meaningless. It is still the law, and if I get caught in the bank vault wearing my catsuit with IR goggles, a fresh tunnel and $1,000,000 in gold there would be consequences. I am certain the bank robber is aware of this. It features strongly in her business plan.

Not so the catholic. The instructions they disregard are ignored as though there were no consequences for doing so. I know the pope worships satanic forces, demons, the very host of heaven and Isis or Aphrodite or whatever she's calling herself these days [Mary Ed.], despite explicit instructions not to do so. If I suggested to the pope, hey nitwit that statue you're kissing is Horus and Isis well he already knows that. But doing so in one of their grotesque "churches" I'd get a different response.

"O no," they'd say; "there's no such thing as Horus, that's a pagan myth, it isn't real."

To deny His Word is to deny God.
.The thing they worship is not God.
..They think that what it actually is isn't real either.
                            ...So is there anything left?

Who could stomach talking to something as awful as an actual atheist? I mean look at them, atheists have beards, spend all their time on the internet looking at porn. Worse yet atheists are such disgusting, vile scum they will pretend to be Christians just to mock them. Many atheist practice bizarre sexual habits like miscegenation. Does that sound like the behavior of a decent person Friend?
