If there is any regret that continues to gnaw at my heart, it is that Godly Rick Perry is no longer seeking to replace the Kenyan usurper this November. Following this week's tornadoes which ripped through the Dallas area, the True Christian(tm) Governor of Texas used the occasion to give thanks to the LORD:
Amen to that. I have relatives in Dallas, and they too are also thanking God for just sending them tornadoes as a wake-up call rather than unleashing the full brunt of His righteous fury against them.
I Thessalonians 5:18
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
When the LORD gives us a pleasant day with nice weather, we give Him thanks. When the LORD sends us tornadoes, we thank Him for not sending worse. When the LORD strikes us with lightning or sends us cancer of the marrow, we continue to thank Him for calling us home. God gave us lips with which to praise Him and knees with which to bend, grovelling at His feet, castigating ourselves for being entirely unworthy of His sweet tendermercies, yet thanking Him for giving us a chance at redemption through the Blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.
It is refreshing that at least one politician in this country isn't ashamed to admit that we are all putrid sinners who should grovel at the LORD's feet when He sends us tornadoes, since He could have done much worse to us.
